YVONNE ACHESON

Hi! My name is Yvonne! I am an artist, wife, and mother of two boys (both now taller than me...). I love painting in vibrant colours, and simply expressing the joy that being in Gods creation here on the island brings. I am so grateful for the ability to paint, and hope that my paintings bring others joy to look at, and encourage people to use their own gifts to bless others. www.yvonneachesonart.ca

C. MAWLE ART

Cindy is best known for her Canadian West Coast paintings—direct expressions of her deep connection to Vancouver Island. Recently, she has been pushing her boundaries, drawing on skills honed over the years to explore a more intuitive, semi-abstract style. Out of this new direction, the raven has appeared—an unexpected yet powerful presence. Across the cultures of the northern hemisphere, the raven is steeped in mythology, often seen as a guide or messenger. For Cindy, its message is clear: “You are going in the right direction.” Still, the Island’s landscapes remain an endless source of inspiration. As Cindy says, “How can I not paint them? It is so incredibly beautiful here!” www.cmawle.com

MIKE BELLIS

Mike Bellis is a Haida artist born in Victoria, BC in 1973. He is inspired by Haida mythology and culture, and interprets that through his own interactions with the natural world. Working mostly with red and yellow cedar, Bellis enjoys combining the time-honoured beauty of traditional Haida art with contemporary shapes, colours, and design. Bellis hails from a family with multiple generations of Haida artists. His father John Bellis has been instrumental in passing on knowledge of traditional Haida craftsmanship. Master carver Bill Bellis is his cousin, and Captain Andrew Brown is his great grandfather.
Bellis is a citizen of the Haida Nation of Old Massett, and was born into the Eagle Clan. www.michaelbellis.com

BLAIR TRENHOLME

In my Nanoose Bay shop, I create functional art pieces from wood grown on Vancouver Island. My material is sourced primarily from blow-downs and other trees which, in most cases, would be used for firewood if I don't have the good fortune to acquire them.

KRIS FRIESEN

Kris Friesen, a Victoria, BC artist, creates paintings that evoke the wild and untamed dreams of nature. Kris often starts with an action painting using large brush sweeps and spontaneously thrown paint, turning his feelings and subconscious physical through expression before adding a subject. His art portrays the essence of nature, capturing unique narratives in intimate encounters with the natural world. Kris melds abstract spontaneity with realistic wildlife and landscapes, inviting connection and contemplation outside of ourselves. www.krisfriesen.com
