You might have noticed we’ve been a little quiet on the socials, well we have a handful of updates from Hunter & Crowe Gardens.

First, the 10-week flower subscriptions are sold out for 2022. There are 3 x 15-week produce boxes still available. If you are interested in signing up, please head to our website https://www.hunterandcrowegardens.com. A BIG thank you to our community of Ymir, Salmo and Nelson for your support this year! We will be reaching out in the coming weeks with a spring update.

Secondly, last week 62 yards of Black Diamond certified organic soil arrived from the Okanagan! Our 1 acre of production gardens for the produce & flowers are getting a healthy soil boost this year. Since we began our journey with Hunter & Crowe Gardens on our 5-acre property we have been building soil health with compost, woodchips, cover crops, broad forking and all with a minimal tillage approach. To say we are stoked about this delivery is an understatement.

Lastly, drum roll please….6 weeks ago we welcomed our sweet baby girl ~ Hunter Hope Avie Crowe ~ into the world. She was born on March 12 weighing in at 7lbs 11 ounces. Being new parents is an incredible and surreal experience. We are looking forward to Hunter spending time in the gardens this summer and for years to come.

Inspired by Forrest Farm Salmo rallying for community support to do what we can from the Kootenays to help the people of Ukraine, Hunter & Crowe Gardens will be offering a limited Sunflower (Ukraine's national flower) 5 Week Subscription running from August 10 to September 4, 2022 🌻

The Support Ukraine subscription is $150 +PST (farm pick-up only) with 50% of proceeds being donated to the Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Appeal through the Red Cross🌻

The federal government will match all donations made by individual Canadians for the Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Appeal. Donations will be matched up until March 18th up to a maximum of $10 million.

Money raised will enable the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement to respond to humanitarian needs generated by almost eight years of conflict, as well as preparedness and response efforts due to heightened tensions in Ukraine. The support could include preparedness, immediate and ongoing relief efforts, long-term recovery, resiliency, and other critical humanitarian activities as needs arise, both in Ukraine and surrounding countries, including supporting populations displaced.

This subscription will only be offered from March 1 to March 16, with donations being submitted to Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Appeal, on March 17, 2022.

What was a dream in October 2019 with Josh standing in the overgrown field, to last June 2021 with just under 1 acre of produce + flowers, to today in 2022 and closing in on selling out of our subscriptions! The team is looking forward to providing our community with locally grown produce + flowers this summer/fall season 🥕

In 2021 Grateful Hive Honey 🍯 invested in a 4 Hive Apiary. Each apiary/colony consists of 20,000-80,000 working honey bees with 1 Queen mother 👑

An interesting fact about the Queen Bee: A Queen can lay up to 2,000 eggs in 1 day, with 1 egg being laid every 44 seconds! Now that’s a busy bee😂
