♦️Crying Tiger Sauce (Nam Jim Jaew)♦️
A bold, spicy, and tangy Thai dipping sauce that perfectly complements grilled meats, especially steak. 🥩🔥 With a kick of heat and a balance of savory, sour, and sweet flavors, this sauce will have your taste buds roaring!
Ingredients:
3 tbsp fish sauce (or soy sauce for vegan)
1 tbsp lime juice
1 tbsp rice vinegar
1 tbsp palm sugar (or brown sugar)
1 tbsp roasted rice powder (optional)
2-3 Thai bird’s eye chilies (adjust for spice level)
1 clove garlic, minced
2 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped
1 tbsp green onion, chopped
Instructions:
Prepare the Ingredients:
In a small bowl, finely chop the bird’s eye chilies and garlic.
If using, toast the rice powder in a dry skillet for 2-3 minutes until golden and fragrant. Let it cool.
Mix the Sauce:
In a bowl, combine the fish sauce (or soy sauce), lime juice, rice vinegar, and palm sugar.
Stir until the sugar dissolves.
Add Flavor and Heat:
Add the minced garlic, chopped chilies, roasted rice powder (if using), cilantro, and green onions to the sauce.
Stir everything together until well combined.
Serve & Enjoy:
Serve the Crying Tiger Sauce as a dipping sauce for grilled meats like steak, chicken, or pork. It also works wonderfully with fresh vegetables or even as a drizzle over rice bowls.
