The Pembroke Farmers’ Market is growing - and we are feeling so grateful. 💚🌱

This season has already brought us more customers, more vendors, more families, more new faces, and more community support than we have seen in a very long time. Every market day, we are reminded just how much Pembroke wants to show up for local.

And now? The part we have all been patiently waiting for is starting to happen…

The harvests are coming. 👀🥬🍅

This spring has not exactly been a forgiving player in the game. The cold, unpredictable weather has made it a slow start for many growers, farmers, gardens, and greenhouses. Produce does not run on wishful thinking — it runs on sunshine, warmth, good soil, long days, and a whole lot of hard work.

But little by little, the fields are catching up, the greenhouses are producing, and the garden goodness is starting to roll in.

We are so excited to celebrate more fresh, local produce arriving at the market as the season continues. Lettuce, spinach, arugula, herbs, plants, early veggies, and all those beautiful signs of summer are beginning to make their way to vendor tables - and we cannot wait to see what the coming weeks bring.

As a proud member of Farmers' Markets Ontario, the Pembroke Farmers’ Market is committed to maintaining the standards of a true farmers’ market. Our market is made up of 100% local farmers, growers, bakers, makers, and producers who work hard to bring the very best of our region directly to the community.

A farmers’ market changes with the season. That is part of the magic. Every week looks a little different, every harvest tells a story, and every vendor brings something special to the table.

So thank you for growing with us, shopping with us, and supporting the incredible local farmers, growers, bakers, makers, and small businesses who make this market what it is.

The season is just getting started, and we are so excited for what is still to come.

Shop Local. Support Local. 🌱

🎉 A big thank you to The City of Pembroke and Heather Sutherland for hosting a wonderful Taste & Talk event this evening! The food was delicious, and the networking opportunities were fantastic 🤝.

🌱 At the Pembroke Farmers' Market, we truly appreciate every opportunity to engage with and support our community. Events like this allow us to connect with local residents, businesses, and organizations, and we're grateful to be included.

🥩 We were also thrilled to have Jeff Bennett representing Reiches Meat Products and serving samples to guests throughout the evening. It's always exciting to see our vendors out in the community showcasing the incredible products they bring to the market!

🔥 You can find Jeff behind the grill every Market Day cooking up delicious locally sourced and produced meats:

🕒 Wednesdays 2pm til 6pm
🕙 Saturdays 10am til 3pm

🛒 Don't forget to check out the freezer while you're there; you can take home some of your favourites to enjoy with the family all week long.

❤️ Thank you again to everyone who helped make this evening such a success!

🌟🏆 Celebrating Civic Pride at the Pembroke Farmers’ Market! 🏆🌟

The Pembroke Farmers’ Market family is incredibly proud to celebrate Melissa Czech who has been selected as the recipient of the 2026 Civic Pride Award from The City of Pembroke! 💚

This recognition is so well deserved. Melissa has poured her heart, time, energy, and leadership into helping grow the Pembroke Farmers’ Market into a more welcoming, family-friendly, and community-centred space for residents, vendors, farmers, makers, bakers, and visitors. 🌱🍅🧺

Through her leadership, Melissa has helped secure grants, expand programming, organize community events, and bring new energy to the market. She has played a key role in creating a stronger and more vibrant 2025 market season, with even more exciting plans already underway for 2026.

Melissa has helped bring events to life such as the Easter Market and the Father’s Day Car Show - an event that our community can now look forward to on an annual basis. She is also helping plan our upcoming Harvest Festival Feast this October, another opportunity to bring people together, celebrate local food, and showcase the amazing vendors and community spirit that make our market so special.

Melissa’s work has made a real and measurable difference. Through her own market research, customer tracking, and vendor feedback, she helped recommend meaningful changes such as lowering stall fees and adjusting market hours to make buying local more accessible for families, working residents, late-morning shoppers, and anyone who wants to support local. 🛍️👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Every market day, Melissa implemented tracking systems, helping us better understand our growth, our impact, and the needs of our community. Vendors have shared that these changes helped lead to record sales, with some often selling out or struggling to keep enough product in stock. That kind of impact matters - not only for our vendors, but for the local economy we are building together right here in Pembroke. 💪🥕🍞

Melissa has also been leading fundraising goals and future plans for important market improvements, including resurfacing the parking lot and creating a green space where families and children can gather, play, and enjoy the market - even beyond regular market hours. 🌳👧🧒

Civic pride is about showing up, doing the work, supporting your neighbours, and believing in the potential of your community. Melissa has done exactly that. Her dedication has helped strengthen the market, support our vendors, welcome more families, create new traditions, and build a stronger local economy right here in Pembroke. 💚

From all of us at the Pembroke Farmers’ Market, congratulations Melissa! 🎉

We are so proud of you and so grateful for everything you continue to do for our market family and our community. 🌻

🌿 What’s in your market bag? 🌿

One of the best parts of a market day at the Pembroke Farmers’ Market is never knowing exactly what you’ll go home with.

Maybe it’s fresh baking for the weekend, a jar of preserves, local produce, handmade goods, treats for the dog, flowers for the table, or something you didn’t even know you needed until you saw it.

That’s the magic of shopping local - every table has a story, every vendor puts heart into what they bring, and every purchase supports someone right here in our community.

So we want to know…

🛍️ What’s your must-buy item when you come to the market?
Is it butter tarts? Fresh veggies? Bread? Artwork? Microgreens? Something for your pets?

Drop your market favourites in the comments and give some love to the vendors you look forward to seeing each week. ❤️

Calling all makers, bakers, creators, artists, and handmade vendors! 🎨🧁🧶✨

The Pembroke Farmers’ Market is still looking for unique handmade makers and bakers to join us at the market.

Some vendors don’t just come to the market - they become part of its heart. Esther Coulis is one of those people.

Esther has been with the market since the very beginning, and this year marks her 29th year sharing her baking, her kindness, and her familiar smile with our community. For many customers, seeing Esther at the market feels like seeing an old friend.

She is best known for her homemade pies, butter tarts, and preserves - the kind of baking that reminds you of home, family gatherings, and recipes made with love. Every pie, every jar, and every sweet treat carries that special Esther touch: simple, honest, comforting, and made with care.

Alongside her baking, Esther also brings her beautiful handmade jewelry, adding another little piece of creativity to her table.

But what people remember most about Esther isn’t just what she makes — it’s how she makes people feel. She has a gentle way of making the market feel warmer, whether she’s chatting with customers, sharing a laugh, or simply showing up week after week with the same generosity and love she has brought for nearly three decades.

And of course, Esther is never without her adorable dog by her side, making her market setup even more special and loved by everyone who stops by.

After 29 years, Esther is more than a vendor. She is part of the market’s story, part of its history, and part of the reason it has always felt like a community.

Come visit Esther every Saturday at the market, pick up one of her homemade favourites, and help us celebrate the kindness, talent, and heart she has shared with us from the very beginning.
