Be sure to stop in at our Timberlands Food Store and support this great cause!
Join us this Friday, June 5, from 11 AM to 2 PM at the Central Alberta Co-op Timberlands Food Store for a community BBQ in support of Safe Harbour Society for Health & Housing.
Grab a hotdog or smokie off the grill and help make a difference right here in Central Alberta.
When people hear the word "homelessness," they often think of addiction or mental health challenges. The reality is that housing instability affects many people who may go unnoticed. Seniors living on fixed incomes, working individuals struggling with rising costs, and families facing an unexpected expense can all find themselves at risk.
Much of Safe Harbour's work focuses on prevention and housing stabilization. Sometimes the support someone needs is as simple as help obtaining identification, accessing income supports, finding transportation, navigating healthcare, or connecting with housing resources. Small interventions can have a life-changing impact.
Through a recent housing stabilization pilot project, Safe Harbour helped house 171 individuals, with more than 80% remaining successfully housed through ongoing support. The need for these services continues to grow, especially among seniors facing increasing affordability challenges.
This event also takes place during Alberta Seniors Week, shining a light on the growing number of seniors in our communities who are quietly struggling with housing and affordability.
Every smokie purchased helps support local people and local solutions. This is community helping community. Neighbours helping neighbours.
We hope to see you there! Thank you Central Alberta Co-op
