*Why Do We All Want to Travel? .... A Reflection on a new Paradigm 🌍*

At tonight Toastmasters meeting , the “word of the day” was paradigm. A simple word—yet it opened a very interesting doorway.

We spoke about what a paradigm is:
đŸȘ„a space in which your reality operates

đŸȘ„your lens of perception

a set of automatic.

đŸȘ„ interpretations that quietly shape how you see life and what you believe is possible.

Later in the meeting, I asked a question:

*“If you had no limitation of time or money, what would you do?”*

One by one, people answered.
Seven out of eight said the same thing:

“I would travel.”

Travel more. Travel differently. Travel in style.

I paused and reflected this back to the group:

“Did you notice how many of you chose travel?”

And that’s when a deeper question emerged:

Why do we value travel so much?

At first glance, the answer seems obvious. Travel is exciting. It’s enjoyable. It’s something to look forward to. But if we look a little deeper, something more meaningful begins to reveal itself.

Travel is not just about going somewhere.

It represents something.

For many people, travel symbolizes:

- Freedom
- Expansion
- Relief from routine
- A break from responsibility
- A chance to feel alive again

In other words, when people say “I want to travel,” what they are often really saying is:

“I want to feel different than I feel in my everyday life.”

Travel gives permission to step out of the usual identity:

- the roles we play
- the habits we repeat
- the pressures we carry

For a moment, we become lighter, more present, more open.

But here is where the insight becomes powerful.

Most people’s paradigm quietly says:
“I can only feel that way somewhere else.”

I will relax when I’m away.
I will feel free when I leave.
I will be happy when conditions change.

And so, travel becomes not just a choice—but almost a solution.

But what if we gently shift that paradigm?

What if those states—peace, freedom, aliveness—are not tied to a destination?

What if they are capacities within us?

Then everything changes.

Travel is no longer an escape.
It becomes an expression.

You don’t go somewhere to find yourself—you bring yourself there.

And perhaps the deeper invitation is this:

If travel gives you a sense of freedom
what would it take to experience that freedom in your daily life—right here, right now?

This is where health, awareness, and lifestyle come together.

Because true well-being is not just about where you go,
but about the space you live from—internally.

*Your paradigm.*

And when that shifts, something remarkable happens:

You don’t have to wait for a vacation to feel alive.

You begin to live that way—every day.

*Q: My husband has chronic insomnia and medication hasn’t helped. What can we do?*

*Answer:*

Chronic insomnia,
especially when it has been approached from many angles without lasting results, often needs to be looked at more holistically.

In my clinical observation, one of the most overlooked areas is digestion !

When digestion is not functioning optimally—whether it involves the liver and gallbladder, stomach, or intestines—it can create internal disturbance that affects the nervous system and, ultimately, sleep. The body does much of its repair work at night, and if digestion is burdened, the system may remain too active to fully rest.

There is also a strong connection between mental activity and digestion. In traditional understanding, overthinking and constant analysis place pressure on the digestive system—particularly what is often referred to as the spleen-stomach axis.

In today’s world, many people—especially men—feel a constant need to analyze, solve, and respond to problems, even those far beyond their immediate environment. Continuous exposure to stressful information, such as global events or negative news, keeps the mind active and the body in a subtle state of tension.

This ongoing internal “activity” can interfere with the body’s ability to shift into a restful state at night.

At the same time, it’s important to recognize that chronic insomnia may also be linked to conditions such as Sleep apnea or stress-related patterns like Insomnia disorder. If sleep has been significantly disrupted for a long time, proper assessment is important.

Where to start đŸȘ„

*1. Support digestion*

Eat lighter, earlier evening meals

Favor warm, simple foods

Use small amounts of ginger to support digestion

*2. Reduce mental overload*

Limit exposure to news and stimulating information, especially in the evening

Create a clear “cut-off” time for problem-solving

*3. Calm the nervous system before bed*

Gentle breathing or relaxation practices

Simple body-based release (even something as natural as a yawn can help reset tension)

4. Assess more deeply if needed

Functional or energetic testing (such as Acugraph in clinical settings) can help identify imbalances

Medical evaluation may be useful to rule out underlying conditions.

*Final thought* ☘

Insomnia is rarely caused by just one factor. It is usually a combination of digestive load, mental activity, and nervous system imbalance.

When we begin by calming the system and supporting digestion, the body often finds its way back to a natural rhythm of rest.

đŸ’« During one of my retreats, we participated in a silent walk, followed by a personal sharing session where many noted the profound peace and silence they experienced. Here's an overview of what we can expect:

1. Quiet, guided stretch and breath connection
2. Invoking the soundless sound "Om" and allowing its resonance to settle within
3. A mindfulness walk with the intention of being fully present"
