Many people have been asking and sending emails about the 2025 Fergus Christmas Market. I sent out this email back in January to the vendor list but I think many people have missed it.
I’m planning to put together a petition to encourage the township to overturn their decision. Stay tuned for that. In the meantime, here is the original email explaining why there will not be a Fergus Christmas Market this year.
Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all found some time to enjoy the magic of the holiday season after the chaos of market season came to a close!
I have some unfortunate and very disappointing news. The Fergus Sportsplex has denied my request to rent their hall for the 2025 Market season as they have made the decision not to rent out their facilities for large group events anymore, including vendor markets.
Their reasoning is confusing to me as they have stated that they wish to keep the facility strictly used for community events. Though, in my opinion, our market was just that.
Long story short, I am hunting for a new facility. I would be interested in hearing your recommendations. The facility does not need to be in Fergus though I would greatly appreciate places within an hour of Rockwood.
I'm looking for a large facility. 5000+ square feet. Church halls, school gyms, meeting rooms aren't what I am looking for. If it can't fit more than 60 vendors, I'm not interested. I like presenting shoppers with that huge, one stop shop experience.
Ideally the location will be in a high traffic area. I think the Fergus Christmas Market greatly benefitted from having hockey games and swimming lessons going on at the same time.
Another important factor to consider in looking for a great venue is that the facility doesn't already have a well established Christmas market happening at the same place or nearby on the same weekend or in recently passed weeks.
This is very, very disappointing and I'm so sorry to have to bring you this sour news. I'll try to find and book something quickly, but I encourage you to look for other events to participate in if you can. I can't promise I'll find something and I'd hate for you to lose out on opportunities for great shows because you're holding out for this show.
I'll keep you all in the loop if I start looking at a new facility.
