The bees are doing their magic, flying against all odds, creating honey from the nectar they are sourcing from flowering plants, & literally flying their little wings off.We too have been busy, helping them in the only way we can- adding supers to the hives, cleaning out deadouts, cutting the grass as it grows so they don't have to dodge long stems, and have an easier time keeping their hives cooler.
We look forward to seeing you June 17 at the Rosetown & District Famer's Market.

Spring planting is all about timing ๐ŸŒฟ A few things I always check first:
๐Ÿ“ Use your zone as a guide, but also watch your actual weather.
๐Ÿฅฌ Cool-season crops like lettuce, spinach, peas, broccoli, and cauliflower can go earlier.
๐Ÿ… Warm-season plants like tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, beans, corn, and zucchini need warmer soil.
๐ŸŒฑ Carrots, beets, and potatoes are good spring staples when soil is workable.
โ˜€๏ธ Donโ€™t rush tender plants outside if cold nights are still hanging around.
Iโ€™ve learned that planting a little later is often better than losing seedlings to one surprise cold snap.

Bees need flowers in every season theyโ€™re active ๐Ÿ A few plants Iโ€™d mix in:
๐ŸŒธ Crocus and snowdrops help with early-season food.
๐ŸŒฟ Thyme, sage, and lavender are great for sunny herb beds.
๐ŸŒผ Calendula and zinnias keep color going through the warm months.
๐ŸŒป Sunflowers are easy to grow and always bring life to the garden.
๐Ÿ’ง Plant in clusters when you can, because bees find groups of blooms more easily.
I like adding bee plants in little pockets around the garden instead of keeping them all in one spot.
