♿The building is wheelchair accessible

Please arrive early to ensure there is time for everyone to register before the call to order. Volunteers at the registration table will make sure your membership is up-to-date and give you a voting card. Bring your membership card if possible to help streamline registration. Each membership is entitled to one vote, so if you have a joint membership, please decide which person will be voting.

Members can stop in at the store ahead of time and check with staff to confirm the status of their membership ahead of time.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has designated 2026 as the International Year of the Woman Farmer. Worldwide, women make up approximately 40% of workers employed in agrifood industries.

One of the FAO’s goals for the year is to tell the stories of woman farmers. A number of Steep Hill’s suppliers are women farmers, and we wanted to highlight the wonderful work they do to help keep our members fed and strengthen our local food chains.

If you love the crunchy long English cucumbers and beefsteak tomatoes we have in store, that's thanks to Joan Hepting and Seven Meadows Farm by Regina Beach.

Customers can find a variety of produce items from Julie Maxwell and Crocus Hill Garden through the growing season, from beets to mixed beans, a variety of squash and turnips.

Lavonne Derksen and the The Derksen Family Farm has supplied a variety of produce to Steep Hill over the years, but fan favourites are their sweet carrots and delicious apples.

If you're looking for ways to learn new skills and connect with our greater Broadway and area community, we've got a cooking class for you! 👩‍🍳

Steep Hill is partnering with the Broadway District and Grace-Westminster United Church to bring back our monthly Cooking Classes. Our first two classes will be Saturday August 15 and Saturday September 26, both from 3PM to 5PM at Grace-Westminster United Church.

The first class will have participants making Chickpea Hermit Cookies and Mulligatawny Soup and for folks who would like to join, the class will be followed by a Community Table where there will be food, refreshments, and games and activities for all ages. We're so excited to be part of an opportunity to share knowledge and connect with all of you in our community.🫶

We think we're pretty awesome but don't just take it from us. Some of our members were willing to share why they became, and have stayed, members of Steep Hill (some for more than 30 years!). 🥰

One of those long-time members is Nancy, who has shopped at Steep Hill for roughly 40 years! Although there are a variety of reasons why she regularly stops by, one of Nancy's passions is fair trade products, many of which Steep Hill carries in store. From fair trade (and in some cases Canadian!) items such as Camino Amigos chocolate products, Mount Hagen instant coffee, and Level Ground coffees and teas, we have options that help ensure all workers are paid fairly for their labour.

Nancy's passion for fair trade includes hosting an International Fair Trade Day pop up in front of the store every spring, helping to organize a snack and learn opportunity with Level Ground last fall, and offering fair trade suggestions for the store.

Everyone has their favourites and we'd like to know yours! 🤔

Up for selection are Level Ground's sweet dried mango or tart dried pineapple, Nuts To You's crunchy or smooth peanut butter, Seven Meadows Farm's sweet and sour relish or spiced cucumber salsa, and Lee's Bees liquid or creamed honey. 🐝
