This week at Prairie Oils - Creamy Cabbage and Dill Soup is available now in our cooler! This may be our favourite soup by The Smart Foodie. Seriously. Perfect for summer, this soup features lots of fresh veggies like cabbage, squash, carrots and fresh dill. Bothwell nacho cheese blend to thicken it and make it nice and rich and creamy. Cold Smoked Olive Oil which gives a nice smoky richness - without using bacon or bacon fat to start the veggies sauteing. Vegetarian, not vegan. Just drizzle the subtly smoky oil as a finishing touch and enjoy the 'taste of bacon' without it being actual bacon.

Our small salad is a Greek Chickpea Salad with a beautiful Tuscan and Vinoso Red Wine Vinegar dressing, and Chaeban Feta cheese. Perfectly seasoned with Canadian-made Salt Cellar's Oregano Spice Blend - which is on SALE this month for 10% OFF btw. This salad is so delicious you will want to try to recreate it at home!

Lastly, the Mexican Rice Salad has the flavours of the South in every bite! Now that we've had a break from extreme heat, can we talk about spice tolerance? LOL

We're kicking off summer recipes with some marinades that will knock your socks off - hopefully not literally!

This one is easy and quite SPICY! Featuring our Traditional Balsamic and Mild EVOO as a starting point, but feel free to "heat" things up even more! Check out this recipe:

North Carolina BBQ Marinade

1 c. Mild EVOO (or try any of our Spicy Green Chili Pepper, Pepperoncino Garlic, Harissa, Chipotle, or Cayenne Olive Oils)
1 c. Traditional Balsamic (or try our Jalapeno Lime or Mango Habanero White Balsamics, or Habanero & Honey Vinegar)
1 Tbsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
1 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
1-2 hot chili peppers, sliced
1 Tbsp. brown sugar

Mix and pour over thick cut sirloin steaks, refrigerate and then grill to desired doneness for what may be the most amazing steak dinner of your life. Or try making into steak tacos using skirt steak. Or marinade chicken or pork - this one is really versatile if you like spice!

NEW Product Alert! Can you guess what flavour vinegar this is? Leave a guess in the comments!

A NEW flavour of Rosé Balsamic is on our shelves - and it is so exciting when our distributor releases a new flavour they've been working on perfecting and - this one is pretty near perfect.

Would you look at that pretty colour? It is not ruby red, not coral pink, it is an especially pretty shade. And the flavour? Tart and sweet and refreshing and NOSTALGIC. :)

Have you guessed it? One more clue? Let's just say if you live in southern Manitoba, you will be familiar with this! This flavour is an elevated blast from a Mennonite past! What a treat!

This week at Prairie Oils & Provisions we're featuring our Dilly Chicken Pasta Salad and doesn't it look amazing? This hearty pasta salad has shell pasta, chicken, Bothwell cheese cubes, fresh dill, and a creamy dressing featuring our Saltwest Naturals Dill Pickle Sea Salt from BC and our Lemon White Balsamic… yum!

You will also love our Tex Mex salad this week! A delicious taste of summer featuring beans, corn, mango, and cilantro, and dressed with our Cilantro & Onion Olive Oil and the Jalapeno Lime White Balsamic. A flavour-packed, fun and filling meal-sized salad. Ready to be eaten as is or you could crush up some tortilla chips to take it to the next level.

Lastly, Minestrone Soup - a perfect light soup for summer. It has beans, diced tomatoes, spinach, mushrooms, macaroni, fresh basil and our Tuscan Herb Olive Oil and Vinoso Red Wine Vinegar. Can't eat dairy? No problem! This soup gets its cheesy flavour from just the right amount of Nutritional Yeast. The end result is hearty and filling, and a classic taste of the Mediterranean!
