Good morning one and all!
They're baaaaaaack!
had restocked our front fridge with fan-favourites fermented dill pickles (with bonus giant pieces of garlic!! My favourite! π₯°βΊοΈ) and preserved Meyer lemons in sea salt.
Now... what does one do with preserved lemons?
I'm so glad you asked!
First, wash them very well before using, get the excess salt off of them. Then....
Salad dressing/dips: mince the rindand mix into vinaigrettes, yogurt, hummus, or homemade mayonnaise
Tagines/stews - add whole or quartered pieces to Moroccan dishes for a mellow savoury flavour
Roasted veggies and grains: dice rinds into couscous, quinoa, roasted potatoes, or asparagus
Meat - add to marinades and/or use as a topping for fish, shrimp, chicken or lamb dishes
Pasta/risotto - chop finely and stir into creamy sauces or risottos to balance the richness
Cocktails and drinks : muddle with sugar for a savoury, refreshing twist to cocktails and sparkling water
And again... always rinse well before using!
Kept in its liquid, it can be stored in the fridge for about a year!
The interwebs have a host of recipes and ideas for preserved lemons - tell us what you do with them!
