The Purpose of this Group is as follows...

STAGE 1
- To promote and discuss the Arcology concept in a Modern Canadian Context
- To organize ideas and collectively brainstorm on possible solutions
- To organize a list of essential services, and a business model that would allow for self-sustainability and profitability, structured as a COOP owned Arcology
- Meetings/Group Discussions/Strategy Meet

STAGE 2
- To find the citizens willing to help make it happen, and also who would want to live in Arcology-like hyperstructure
- To develop political support and obtain funding to develop a COOP Arcology
- To Develop A Virtual Prototype (Virtual structure that can be explored online)
- To Create A replicable Arcology Model for 25-50,000 by the year 2028. (est. 15 years)

STAGE 3
- To Assist other Population Centers across Canada, and around the World, in developing Arcologies of their own to promote self-sustainability and a COOP ownership model of futuristic living centers.
- Develop a Political Platform that will assist in the spread of Arcology developments, supporting technologies, and industries

A team at the University of Rochester has etched aluminum tubes so that they won’t sink, even when damaged—a trick the scientists borrowed from spiders.

“You can poke big holes in them,” said Chunlei Guo, a professor of optics and physics at the University of Rochester and senior author of the research, in a press release. “We showed that even if you severely damage the tubes with as many holes as you can punch, they still float.”

The implications of Guo’s work go beyond the laboratory. Linked tubes could create weight-bearing rafts or ships. Engineers might be closing in on the dream of ships that stay afloat even as water pours into their hulls. One surprising application involves energy: Guo’s team demonstrated that rafts made of the tubes could harvest waves to generate electricity. http://spklr.io/6183DMonN
