A little note from Charbel & I ❤️
Charbel and I take an incredible amount of pride in what we do at White Sails. From the very beginning, one of the things that has mattered most to us is making as much as we possibly can right here, in-house. We put our hearts into the food we serve, the products on our shelves, and the little business we have built together.
We both work year-round, seven days a week more often than not, and take very little time off. White Sails isn’t just our business — it’s a huge part of our family’s life, and for almost four years, we have poured everything we have into keeping it going. In all that time, we have only implemented one price increase, and it was such a small adjustment that most people probably didn’t even notice.
Unfortunately, we have reached a point where another adjustment is becoming necessary.
The cost of almost everything continues to rise — ingredients, produce, meat, dairy, packaging, staffing, utilities, supplies and all of the other expenses that come with operating a small business. We have absorbed as much of those increases as we possibly can because we know that our customers are feeling the exact same pressures at home.
Feeding a family isn’t cheap these days. We know that firsthand. We are raising a family while trying to run a small family business, and keeping our prices reasonable has always been incredibly important to us. But in the coming weeks, you may notice some price adjustments on certain items. We want to be upfront about that rather than quietly changing things and hoping nobody notices.
This past year has been one of the hardest we have experienced since taking over White Sails. There have genuinely been moments where we weren’t sure if we would be able to keep the doors open. The construction made an already difficult winter even harder, and unfortunately this summer wasn’t nearly as busy as summers normally are for us. Small businesses don’t have endless resources behind them. Behind White Sails are two people trying to raise our children, support our employees and their families, pay our suppliers, keep food on the shelves, keep our doors open and continue building something we hope will be here for many years to come.
We aren’t sharing this for sympathy. We just believe in being transparent with the people who continue to support us. We will continue doing everything we can to keep our prices fair. We will continue making as much as possible in-house. We will continue working hard to give you good portions, good quality and good value for your money. And we will never take for granted that when you choose to spend your hard-earned money at White Sails, you’re choosing to support our family and the families of the people who work alongside us.
If you’ve stopped in for a sandwich, grabbed a loaf of bread, picked up your groceries, ordered a pie, shared one of our posts, recommended us to someone or simply continued walking through our doors — thank you. Every single purchase matters more to a small business than most people realize.
We really hope you’ll continue to support us through this next chapter. We’re incredibly grateful that you’ve allowed our little family business to be part of this community for almost four years. ❤️
