Another great institution is closing down on Commercial Drive "The Drive" - I've always enjoyed walking by and seeing everyone mingling about. Today, Saturday 26th is the final day. Good write up in Scout Magazine

Yesterday was a pivotal day in the fight against open-net pen salmon farms in BC waters. (Closed pen is okay - the US does an excellent closed pen system for their catfish) The Fisheries Minister may extend open-pen farm leases by 6 years.

We would like to urge Prime Minister Trudeau to honour his pledge to remove these farms from BC waters by 2025.

For years, diverse groups have urged Canada to remove open-pen salmon farms from BC's coastal waters.

"Standing Up for Wild Salmon," press conference united a variety of sectors and organizations who represented 120+ First Nations, commercial fishers, recreational fishing organizations, tourism operators, business leaders, scientists and ENGOs. It was powerful to see so many diverse voices standing together with one clear message for the Prime Minister.
