Meet Kevin Welin, Petroleum Manager at Vegreville Co-op!
Born in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, and raised in Vegreville, Alberta, Kevin’s journey is a testament to deep community roots and an unwavering work ethic. After spending his formative years attending local schools and gaining invaluable business insights through his father’s various ventures, Kevin graduated from Vegreville Composite High School and pursued Business Administration at Lakeland College. His early career was marked by versatility, as he transitioned from business studies to the trades, completing his first-year electrical apprenticeship and gaining years of hands-on experience. In 1987, he began a lifelong partnership with his wife, Jean, building a marriage that has remained a steadfast foundation throughout his professional evolution.
Kevin’s career eventually came full circle when he joined his father at Be-Ja’s Foods Ltd., where he wore many hats - from delivery driver to merchandiser - helping the fast-food delivery business grow. His dedication to the industry continued even after the company was sold, leading to a total of 25 years as a delivery sales representative. Always willing to adapt, Kevin later successfully transitioned into heavy-duty parts and spent eight years in retail management as a front store manager for a local drug store.
Today, Kevin proudly serves as the Petroleum Manager at the Vegreville Co-op, a role he finds deeply fulfilling. Beyond his professional achievements, Kevin is a pillar of the local sports scene, having dedicated over 50 years to the curling community as both a player and an executive. When he isn’t at the rink, you can find him on the golf course or cheering on his favourite football, hockey, and baseball teams. Say Hello to Kevin below!
