Parks and Recreation are teaming up to offer an innovative new program that blends environmental restoration with creative expression.

This hands-on workshop begins with helping remove invasive English Ivy from a municipal park. After the ivy pull, participants will learn how to prepare the harvested vines and weave their own unique basket to take home.

English Ivy is one of the region’s most persistent invasive species, outcompeting native understory plants and reducing food sources for local pollinators. By removing it, you’ll be helping restore sunlight, space, and nutrients to native species while transforming an over-abundant plant into something beautiful and useful.

No experience required. All tools and weaving materials (freshly harvested by you!) are provided. Connect with community, support local biodiversity, and enjoy a fun introduction to natural basketry.

Tom crafts small‑batch, nourishing treats — and we’re thrilled to bring two of his favourites to Zero Waste Emporium:

✨ Almond & Peanut Butter Squares (freezer section)
✨ Gluten‑Free Bread — frozen or fresh every Wednesday with pre‑order

If you’d like a fresh loaf, just reach out by Monday end of day (either through our online ordering or by phone), and we’ll add you to the bake list. The loaves will be delivered to the store on Wednesday.
