It’s go time for corn!

It’s business as usual today for us at the Virden farmers market from 4-6:30. Come grab your fresh veggies and then explore the rest of the downtown festivities for rodeo weekend.

We are ONLY attending the Virden farmers market this week (Thursday Aug 6). Open 4-6.

So if you normally purchase from us Saturday at Oak Lake beach market you should probably plan to get to the Virden market tomorrow to avoid disappointment.

A limited selection of our produce is also available at Valleyview Coop in Virden.

Garlic harvest 2026 complete.

Now it needs 3-4 weeks of curing to be ready for fall and winter storage. We’ve found success with laying the garlic out in layers on drying racks in our barn. Moving air and out of the sun helps lock in that flavour.

In the meantime we will be selling fresh garlic. Full of flavour and perfect for pickling season.

We usually try to keep our posts really upbeat and positive. But gotta admit that the heat is kinda getting to us this week. So if you feel like maybe you’re paying a little more than you’d like to or your peas or cucumbers aren’t quite the right size, please remember the struggle that happens before it gets to you.

We typically try to pick and harvest before lunch, and then wash and package in the afternoon. But when it’s already 31 degrees at noon, it just ain’t glamorous.

But kudos to my team. Thankful for their willingness to keep going!
