🐑❄️ “Day Off” ❄️🐑
Feb 11, 2026
Had a day off during the week and figured I’d get chores done fast and then relax.
Farm had other plans.
Filled the cattle trough and broke the ice 🧊. Then headed to the sheep with grain and rang the bell. Everyone came running… except one.
With fresh snow, I could see tracks heading around the bush by the pond. I turned the bend and looked out onto the frozen pond…
There she was with fresh twin lambs. 🐑🐑
She already had them cleaned up and nursing. I left them alone and went to set up a pen with shelter, feed, water, and minerals. A couple hours later, Porter got home from school and we went back out.
We each grabbed a lamb and headed to the pen. Like any good mom when her babies are calling, she followed ❤️. Got them settled and went in to clean up. I checked the camera — both nursing. Perfect.
Then I switched the camera to the barn… and caught another ewe actively giving birth 👀
“Porter! Get dressed — more lambs!”
Back out we went. We each grabbed a baby. This mom stood there yelling at us like we’d committed a crime 😅. I left Porter holding the lambs while I brought her over.
When I came back, Porter was picking stuff off one lamb and asked,
“What’s all this stuff all over her?”
I said, “Porter… she was just born. What do you think it is?”
He replies, “Vagina stuff.”
I just smiled.
Then he says, “I need to go inside and wash my hands. Can I go now please?” 😂
Just when you think you have a day off, the farm reminds you that you never really do.
But it also reminds you why you wouldn’t trade it for anything. 🌾
Twins born on a frozen pond. ❄️
Another set twins born moments later. 🐑
4 healthy baby lambs born on same day and getting to experience it with your son.
Not a bad day off after all. ❤️
(Last year they also gave birth on same day and it was the same week)
