HOW IT WORKS
Provide us with your contact information (address, home & mobile numbers, email),
Tell us you want to join. We are available by phone and email if you need help or have questions at any time during the process. You will have access to our online ordering system, a video training session is recorded on our webpage. You will join our online communication channel (via: a private Telegram Group or other) and we let you know when the next order cycle deadlines are. When the order closes, you have bought everything on your order and are committing to pay for the order when it comes in. There will be adjustments either up or down, depending on demand for the particular item, and if the item is shorted or unavailable. There is an expectation of a $100 minimum order per participant family per order cycle (which should be easy to do, since there is a huge selection of items). The more of your groceries, personal care and household items you order with Valley Pantry, the more buying power our group will have. Currently, pick up day is every 3rd Friday (subject to change), and you arrive at our pick up location by appointment (other times may be available) – go through our checkout process and pay by online e-transfer. Have a great evening! Any extra purchases or other adjustments will show up a day or 2 after all pick ups are complete. Communications are mostly done by emails. PARTICIPATION & COSTS
Valley Pantry ORGANICS works on the “mark-up system” – our “Regular” participants pay True Cost of their order (including shipping, taxes, import duties, freight etc.) plus 20%. There is an annual fee of $50, added to the first order of the May and November. You save money over the regular 40% – 60% markup you pay in stores. We can’t guarantee that every item will be cheaper every time (because we can’t control what our competitors mark down as loss-leader items), but those of us who have been buying food this way over time have seen significant savings. We have access to a huge variety of food, dry goods , grocery items, bath and beauty items, household cleaners and paper products, and occasionally clothing or many other items. Every Order Cycle:
Fresh Produce – fruits & vegetables
Dairy – fluid milk from skim to whipping cream, sour cream, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, etc. Flours
Rice – white, basmati, jasmine, brown
Pulses & Grains – peas, beans, lentils, millet, oats, oatmeal, popcorn
Eggs – both organic, and free range
Cheeses – Cheddar, Mozzarella, Parmesan, Asiago, Feta and others. Meats – chicken – turkey – lamb – veal – elk – boar – goose – some on a regular rotation, others as the season or availability allows, or by request. other items:
Pastas – white and gourmet varieties
Canned goods, dry goods, packaged foods, prepared foods
Household paper products made from recycled fibre or sustainable sources
Household cleaners that are environmentally friendly brand names
Health & Beauty products including child friendly sunscreen & bubble bath, supplements, vitamins, and more. Raw Nuts, Dried Fruit and other raw items, such as cocoa and coconut. Herbs & Spices (organic)
Assorted other suppliers of a variety of goods as requested and based upon interest - (i.e. clothing, beeswax candles, etc.) Our Location
Our pick up location is - near/just south of St Norbert on Red River Drive. Pick up time is by appointment the evening after the sort, and the next day. (may be adjusted as necessary). Payment is by e-transfer.
