Namely, it is made of well known beehive parts, such as bee feeder, queen excluder, covering board and vents and as a part of the beehive it changes its entire upper assembly. According to its dimensions (516 x 412 mm outer dimensions), it may be placed on LR (Langstroth Root) beehives, but also on DB (Dadant – Blatt) 10 and Farrar 10 beehives. The testings made during the period of seven year
s of research and after four various cover conceptions resulted in the construction that meets the most of the needs of beekeepers to the largest extent. The new beehive cover with the trade name Beenectar, finds is first application in the spring bee colony development, with the great convenience in easy intake of solid and liquid feed into the beehive, as well as in the simple control of the bee colony conditions. Small but frequent quantities of stimulating feed give the results in the number of bees in the beehive and the strength of the bee colony , with which the bee colonies shall commence their pasturing. Beehive ventilation which is regulated by four ventilation holes is excellent, so that regular condensation problem and its harassment of bees does not appear in more than 92% of cases. It is important to point out that, regardless the possibility of bee colony to close the ventilation holes with propolis, such situation very rarely happens. During the honey harvest, with the proper regulations of beehive microclimate and by means of ventilation holes, the beekeeper is able to take advantage of all bees energy for collecting the nectar and to relieve the bees maximally from the obligation to acclimate to the living space. Although in some regions there is no bees watering by the beekeepers, in some regions it is regularly done, for a very simple reason, to relieve the bees from uncecessary transport. It is ever so simplified by using the feeders of three litres. The intake of liquid feed or water into the beehives with the new Beenectar cover is done significantly faster than in case of using the classical cover and so the feeding of two hundred beehives can be completed for less than an hour. The beehive microclimate is maintained by means of structural solution, thanks to which the beehive becomes simultaneously open and closed. Closed for the bee and open for the beekeeper who may perform some of his necessary jobs. Such structural solution allows the beekeeper to work in any weather conditions (snow, rain or strong wind), as well during a night. It is important to point out that such structural solution prevents the intrusion of bees from the neighbouring bee colonies via the beehive roof. In this way, the pillage in the beehive is eliminated, and the possibility of transferring the diseases from the beehive to the beehive is reduced. Bee is calm every time when removing the hive cover so that the smoking is reduced to the lowerst possible level. Smoking is applied when removing the frames, what requires the complete cover removal. The reduction of smoking brings two essential advantages for the beekeeper. Firstly, it reduces the quantity of honey self-eating by the bee colony what can be the significant quantity, depending on the frequency of hive openings and secondly it improves the quality of honey due to the less quantity of combustion products sticked to honey. This convenience is also applicable at the time of drugs intake. Wide and clear visibility of beehive allows the beekeeper to determine the condition of each bee colony in a fast and efficient way. So, the beekeeper can react in time and dose the adequate quantity of drugs in due time. Of course, nothing in the therapy may not impede the beekeeper since it does not depend on the weather conditions and each operation can be done in time, what may have the crucial importance in the periods of several days of bad weather conditions. The clear visibility avoids „in any case“ treatment and consequently changes the quality of honey for the better. Air condition of beehive and the formation of a favourable environment for the bees is the most important feature of this product. Of course, it does not happen by itself. It is very important that the beekeper uses Beenectar tool in a proper way. Large quantity of air pockets provides good isolating properties of the product. During several years of beehive testing using the new Beenectar cover, 100% absence of „beard“ formation on the beehives was noticed. The bee is exclusively dedicated to the collection of nectar. Good microclimate provides good life conditions of the bee colonies that are fast and well developed. The bee colonies with new Beenectar cover can be developed for the entire beehive floor more than the bee colonies with the beehive clasic cover. The feeder hygiene is at the high level, as well as the hygiene of the complete assembly, since all parts can be washed in water to the temperature of 100 0C, and then disinfected with disinfecting agents such as hydrogen peroxide, etc. The feeder constructed in such a way is durable and with no possibility to leak. Thanks to the feeder steps, the bee is fully protected against drowning in syrup. The new beehive cover is made of the finest materials resistant to hail, UV radiation and the pressure up to 500 kg. By using the finest materials another important advantage is obtained and this is an easy moving. Namely, with regard to the material quality, the beehives can be stacked without any problems. More important is the fact that when moving the beehives it is not necessary to remove the cover, but only to open the vents of the beehives enabling the moving of them without any problems even to 12 hours. Thereby, the bees remain calm and their removal and setting to the new location is very simple. During the packaging of beehives, they can be virtually stacked one to another thus increasing the number of beehives in transport. The beekeepers who move their beehives have the combined advantage in terms of diagonal ventilation in the beehive what causes more rapid drying of honey and more rapid closing of honeycomb for up to seven to ten days in comparison with the beehives with classical cover. Each of these properties contribute to the final objective what is more honey and better quality of honey. If we catch little advantage in spring development and little advantage during the bee pasturing in terms of providing the good living conditions for the bees and if focus the attention of bees to the collection of nectar providing everything else by ourselves and if we reduce the obligations of the bees and take care of their health not giving the excessive quantity of drugs to the bees and if we take care that the bees are calm and if we reduce smoking only to the level needed, then we shall certainly get more honey of better quality in the beehive. The quality of this product was recognized by many beekeepers around the world and its distribution started in more than ten countries. Also, that it was a new and high quality product confirms the first prize at the International fair of patents in Geneva 2100. In Serbia, the testing of the new cover is conducted on four locations in all climate conditions and various latitudes. Test results are available on web site www.beenectar.rs.
