Visitors to Prague
Following repeated feedback from observant and attentive customers, we would like to draw the attention of all those seeking genuinely kosher dining in Prague’s Jewish Quarter:
If an establishment advertises itself as “kosher,” we strongly recommend carefully verifying its certification, its validity, and the name of the responsible rabbinical supervision.
Please note that Hebrew signs on the window or Hebrew-speaking staff do not constitute a kosher certification.
In recent years, several businesses have appeared in Prague that claim to be kosher even though they are not. Their ingredients are not kosher, they operate without any proper kashrut supervision, and they remain open on Shabbat and Jewish holidays, which is incompatible with the standards of a kosher establishment.
This notice has one purpose only:
to help visitors make informed decisions and ensure that their expectations regarding kashrut are properly met.

בהתאם לפניות חוזרות מצד לקוחות שומרי מצוות, ברצוננו להסב את תשומת-ליבם של כל המבקשים מזון כשר אמיתי ברובע היהודי של פראג:
אם עסק כלשהו מציג את עצמו כ”כשׁר”, מומלץ בחום לבדוק היטב את תעודת הכשרות, את תוקפה ואת שמו של המשגיח או הגוף הרבני האחראי.
יש לציין כי שלטים בעברית על חלון הראווה או דוברי עברית בצוות אינם מהווים תעודת הכשר.
בשנים האחרונות הופיעו בפראג מספר מקומות המצהירים כי הם כשרים – אף שהם אינם כאלה בפועל. חומרי הגלם שלהם אינם כשרים, אין עליהם פיקוח כשרות, והם פתוחים בשבת ובחגים – בניגוד מוחלט לסטנדרטים של עסק כשר.
מטרת הודעה זו הינה אחת בלבד:
לסייע למבקרים לקבל החלטות מושכלות ולהבטיח שציפיותיהם בנוגע לכשרות אכן ימולאו.
