We‘re open today, Friday 28 August, for some last-minute shopping.

This now is a very lonely bear on a coaster—since his partner has just been stolen this morning.
And it’s not the only thing. In this week alone we have had 4 packets of crumpets, 3 Terry‘s oranges, 2 bars of Cadbury chocolate, 2 packets of Tunnock teacakes, 2 packets of Yorkshire Tea, one bottle of HP sauce, one Marmite and several other small items stolen. And it’s only a Thursday.
I don’t even want to go into the moral aspect of shoplifting from a small business such as ours or the emotional stress it causes us. Quite simply from a business perspective it has gotten so bad over the last few months, that we can no longer afford to watch and stand by. On our return from our holiday, we will install more cameras and start prosecuting thieves—-no exceptions. To assist us we would also kindly ask you to use our shopping baskets and leave your large bags at the till before going to the freezer section.
We never wanted to take any of these measures; I hate to look with suspicion at everyone entering the store but it seems we can no longer ignore this issue. To all our honest customers I would like to apologize for these measures and thank you for your loyal custom over the years. It‘s those of you I look forward to seeing again in September!

Our delayed order of freeze has now arrived. Unfortunately without sausage rolls and mini pork pies, which were unable to clear customs for over three weeks (thank you BREXIT! ). However Wright’s pies, Linda McCartney’s sausages and sausage rolls as well as Quorn pieces are now back in stock. And of course, most importantly for some, scones and crumpets!
