Hi Folks
Now and again we sell products where the "Best Before" date is about to or has already expired. This is standard practice, not only with us and other online shops, but also at

your local supermarket. Please allow me explain the SA law:
1. “Best before” date: mandatory for non-perishables but no prohibition placed on the sale thereof after the date has expired in view of it relating only to the optimum freshness, thus quality aspects, of these products.
---> In other words, it's OK to eat it, e.g. The samp used in the my live streaming video in June 2018 was bought in SA in 2014 and had an expiry date of 11/2014. Beer, however, does lose it’s fizz and may change flavour. This generally happens only after a long time (12-18 months) after the BB date has passed.

2. "Use by” (or expiry) date: mandatory on perishable pre-packaged foodstuffs and a prohibition regarding the sale thereof after the date has expired as it relates to the safety and/or suitability of the products in question, i.e. microbial growth.
---> These should not be eaten as it could cause illness. This could be fresh anything, dairy products, e.g. cheese, yoghurt, bread, meat.

At Saffa Shop, all products sold have only a Best Before date. But if you're gonna leave your boeries lying in the damp cellar for 5 days, then you're on your own, baby.

Folks, this is a reminder to please use the order number as your reference when paying for your order. 2-3 times per month, we receive a payment that has no order reference, the payment amount has been rounded up (or down) to the nearest €10, and the payment has been made by a different person.
I have today received another one and it is impossible to trace it back to an order as there are too many possible orders in that range.
I have phoned the nearest three, but to no avail. This means that the parcel delivery will be delayed.

Container ETA is 05.06.2026.... BUT...
The ship is going to London. When it did that last year, it took 6 weeks to get the container from London to Hamburg. Eish!.. and many of the BB dates were then passed.

Hi folks.
We have been using DHL now for 18 months and, sadly, I must admit that it has been a total disaster.

We currently have 2 missing parcels this year (happened once in 8 years with DPD)
We have at least double the amount (compared to DPD) of parcels being sent to parcel shops.
DHL do not collect from our premises 3 to 5 times per month (happened once in 8 years with DPD).
DHL driver moans to my wife that we have too many parcels (at month-end) and he will have to use a bigger van.
DHL occasionally return a parcel (instead of sending to a parcel shop) without even attempting a delivery.
DHL sometimes take 3 weeks to deliver a parcel. Their answer: If your customer wants prompt delivery, then they should use the express parcel service.
And so on.....

Therefore, we will be cancelling DHL as soon as our contract allows.
We will then only use DHL for non-EU countries, where they are much better than DPD.

Folks, our latest container is packed and about to be on it's way. Try as they might, our suppliers could not find any "fresh" Castle Lager... not from SAB and not from Makro. The only stock available would have approximately the same BB date as the date our container gets here. Therefore, I've cancelled the Castle Lager and ordered extra Black Label.
This is often the cause for us having so many passed BB date products. While our suppliers try to supply only products with at least 6 months still left, that is when they order it from the factory. This is not always possible and it takes 4.5 to 6 months to reach us from the time of placing the order. Notably, SAB and Simba have been shortening the BB dates over the past few years. Simba chips are almost always passed the BB date when it arrives. SAB beers sometimes only have 3-4 weeks left.
