Europe is facing its biggest energy crisis in a century, making an accelerated transition to home-grown renewable energies a strategic imperative. But while fossil fuel dependence exposes Europe to a rollercoaster of price developments amid the war in Iran, 120 GW of renewable energy projects are stuck in permitting due to grid constraints.
Amid this complexity, EASAC’s new Commentary on Energy System Integration – to be launched next week – offers a clear and actionable roadmap to break the cycle of volatility and gridlock, and set Europe on a pathway to energy resilience.
