We are delighted that CFINE has been successful in its application to The Scottish Government’s Just Transition Fund to replace its mobile community vans used to connect with communities across the priority areas of Aberdeen and rural Aberdeenshire.

The vehicles will be fully electric and include solar charging, helping to reduce our carbon footprint while providing vital services to individuals and families across the communities we work with.

The investment also includes funding towards operating costs and ensures that CFINE can continue to provide food and other essential support throughout the North-east. Thank you to The Scottish Government for this amazing support.

Local MSP Jack Middleton spent a day volunteering at CFINE.

Last week Jack spent a day in the life as a volunteer at CFINE. In the morning Jack got a chance to meet some of our volunteers and head out in one of our vans delivering food to local charities and community organisations. CFINE operates Felix Grampian (formerly FareShare) which redistributes surplus food to charities and community organisations across the city, helping to reduce food waste.

In the afternoon he spent time in our Community Food Pantry ‘Pantry+’. The space has recently been renovated through funding granted by the Place Based Investment Fund from Aberdeen City Council. The space provides families across Aberdeen with access to healthy food, toiletries, and baby products at a low cost.

Yesterday CFINE hosted the official opening of our newly renovated Community Food Pantry ‘Pantry+’!

The event was well attended, with speeches from CFINE’s Chief Executive Fiona and one of our Pantry volunteers Beth. After a speech from the Lord Provost of Aberdeen, the green ribbon was cut, and the space was officially declared open!

CFINE’s Community Food Pantry originally opened in 2019 and was one of the first Community Food Pantries in Scotland.
The recent renovation was made possible through funding from the Place Based Investment Fund from Aberdeen City Council.

The renovation has expanded the space and created a real shop like experience, allowing us to continue providing families across Aberdeen with access to healthy food, toiletries, and baby products at a low cost. The new space also allows for more outreach opportunities from other local organisations to provide support directly to our pantry members.

Thank you to everyone who attended! 💚

Earlier this week Mike from Warburtons spent a day at volunteering at CFINE . 🍞

Mike got a chance to work with our volunteers at our emergency food access point, learning more about the range of wrap around support CFINE offers. It was a busy day, with over 140 people visiting CFINE for support and emergency provision.

A huge thank you to the team at Warburtons for their continued support of CFINE.

Mike shared this poster with us after his day of volunteering, thanks Mike!

Community Meal Number 3 – CFM’s 🍽️

Last week CFINE held our third community meal, bringing together members from our Community Food Member network.

CFINE operates FareShare Grampian, Highlands & Islands which covers 7 local authority areas - Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire, Moray, Highlands, Western Isles, Orkney, and Shetland. Across these areas CFINE redistributes surplus food to our Community Food Members who are charities and community groups that support people experiencing food insecurity within their local communities.

This community meal provided a chance for members of these organisations to meet and network over a delicious meal. Attendees enjoyed food made from many of the surplus items that were currently being redistributed across the network. Including sausage and bean stew, handmade raspberry frozen yogurt, and courgette chutney.

Thank you to everyone who attended the event! 💚
