Owen Taylor & Sons Ltd is looking for several Trainee Butchers to join our team at 27 Main Road.
No previous butchery experience is needed—full training will be provided by our experienced team. This is a great opportunity for hardworking and reliable people who want to learn a skilled trade and build a career in butchery.
📍 Based at 27 Main Road
⏰ 5:00am–3:00pm, Monday to Friday
📅 Some Saturdays required
💷 National Living Wage initially
📈 Pay regularly reviewed as your skills develop
🎓 Full on-the-job training provided
Applicants must be 18 or over due to site safety requirements and the use of butchery machinery and equipment.

Owen Taylor & Sons is looking for an experienced Shop Butcher to join our friendly retail team in Leabrooks, Alfreton.
We’re looking for someone with strong shop-butchery skills who is passionate about quality, ethically sourced meat and delivering excellent customer service.
📍 Leabrooks, Alfreton
💷 £14–£15 per hour – negotiable depending on experience
📅 Five shifts across our six-day shop operation. Mon-Thurs 07.00 to 17.00, Fri 07.00 to 17.30 and Sat 07.00 to 14.00
🔪 Previous shop or retail butchery experience required

We’re looking for a hands-on Hygiene Manager to lead our hygiene team and help maintain excellent standards across our food production site.
📍 Location: Owen Taylor and Sons Ltd on site
💷 Pay: £13.50–£14.00 per hour, depending on experience
🕘 Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:30pm with flexibility
📅 Occasional Saturdays may be required
Key responsibilities include:
✅ Leading and training the hygiene team
✅ Managing cleaning schedules, chemicals and COSHH records
✅ Overseeing waste, drainage and pest-control arrangements
✅ Supporting site compliance and microbiological sampling
✅ Completing equipment calibration and foreign-body checks
✅ Managing stock and traceability for packaging and marinades
We’re looking for someone organised, proactive and experienced in hygiene or cleaning supervision—ideally within food production or manufacturing.
