A highlight during the festive season is our Fruits in Liqueur collection. The Wooden Spoon’s heritage has been hand crafted over the years, much like our preserves. Founded 40 years ago, the company has stayed true to its roots by focusing on artisan products.

Sticky Stem Ginger Loaf Cake
A comforting, bakery-style loaf that works beautifully with whole stem ginger and pairs perfectly with tea or coffee.
Ingredients
225g self-raising flour
1 tsp baking powder
2 tsp ground ginger
115g unsalted butter
175g soft brown sugar
2 eggs
100g golden syrup
3–4 pieces The Wooden Spoon Preserving Co Whole Stem Ginger, finely chopped
2 tbsp stem ginger syrup
100ml milk
Optional Glaze: Icing sugar or Stem ginger syrup

Method
Preheat oven to 170°C fan and line a loaf tin.
Cream butter and sugar until light.
Beat in eggs one at a time.
Fold in flour, baking powder, and ground ginger.
Stir in golden syrup, milk, chopped stem ginger, and syrup.
Pour into the tin and bake for 45–55 minutes until risen and golden.
Drizzle with a simple ginger syrup glaze while still slightly warm.

A lovely gentleman who had travelled from London to visit our factory shop shared how he enjoys Pears and Caramel Liqueur as a simple yet delicious dessert.

He decants the pears and serves them with rice pudding, then pours a little of the syrupy liqueur into a small glass on the side as an accompanying treat.

A wonderfully easy idea that turns something classic into something special.
