After a lot of planning, we have decided to expand Larkhall Butchers into the vacant premises next door, creating more room for the shop to grow while keeping the same focus on good produce, personal service and the village community around us.

We care about the high street here and we know how important it is for local business spaces to stay active and useful. Taking on the premises next door gives us the chance to bring an empty space back into use while adding something positive to the life of Larkhall.

The shop will remain open as normal while the work is taking place, so you can continue to come in as usual as the new space slowly comes together.

Over the coming weeks and months we’ll share more of the process, but for now we just wanted to say thank you to everyone who continues to support the shop, because it is that support which has made this next step possible.

Over the weekend, we joined as they celebrated their 20th anniversary.
Although a shop has stood here for many years, last Saturday marked 20 years since it began running as a community co-operative.
When the original shop was due to close, local residents rallied together to find a way of keeping it open. From that, Bathford Enterprise For All was formed, creating a shop owned by the community and run for the benefit of the community.
Since then, it has become far more than a place to buy everyday essentials. It supports local producers, offers a meeting point for residents, provides useful services and remains a valued part of village life.
We have been long-standing supporters of the shop and look forward to many more years of trading, community and care.

For many young people, places like Larkhall Athletic Club are where confidence, friendship and a sense of belonging begin.
They are fantastic hubs for the local community, providing support, mentorship and provide a brilliant facility for people of all ages to enjoy.
We caught up with the club during one of the final games of the season to speak to some of the staff and volunteers who help make this place so special.

The club is always looking for support and sponsorship. If you’re interested in helping, please message

Japanese A5 Wagyu.
With that signature deep marbling that melts into the pan. A rich, buttery flavour that lingers long after the last bite.
Japanese A5 Wagyu occasionally finds its way onto the counter at Larkhall Butchers, though it’s usually something we source to order.
Please speak to the team to order or check availability.

The King Bladud procession was one of today’s highlights from the Larkhall Festival. A playful, colourful parade led by Jamma de Samba, with local theatre woven through it. Built around one of Bath’s oldest legends, it brings everyone out into the streets to celebrate.

Crowds gathered at a sunny Alice Park over the weekend as Marque in the Park returned, bringing a mix of classic cars, modern builds and local enthusiasts into the heart of the community.

The event drew visitors throughout the day, with people stopping to chat, explore the cars and enjoy the atmosphere. We caught up with Rory, who helps organise the day alongside other Larkhall community events.

Events like this continue to showcase the value of our local spaces and the role they play in bringing people together. While the cars provide the focus, it is the shared experience around them that defines the day.

Our high streets are under ever increasing pressures . These places are part of what keeps a community alive and it’s worth protecting.
There is a Bath & North East Somerset Council proposal being discussed that could alter how this part of the city works day to day. It is framed around parking but its impact is likely to go a lot further.

A community meeting is taking place on Tuesday 21st April / 7:00PM at St Saviours Church.
If you have question or want to have your say then please come along.

What We Stand to Lose
With a proposed parking scheme by the council, we take a look at what this could mean for the independent businesses in the area.
These businesses are already under pressure. Costs are rising, habits are changing and it’s getting harder to keep things going year by year. They rely on people choosing to come here and on decisions being made with a real understanding of how places like Larkhall actually work.
When something shifts, even slightly, it can start to have an effect. A change to parking might not seem like much on paper, but it changes how people move through a place, how often they come and whether they stop at all.
It’s the independent shops that will feel that first. The ones without much room to absorb it. The ones that make up people’s routines and give a place its identity.
If those businesses start to struggle, it spreads. It affects the people working there, the suppliers behind the scenes and the wider community that depends on them.
Over time, that’s how places change. It’s not sudden, but bit by bit. Fewer jobs, fewer reasons to come, and something that once felt like a thriving high street starts to thin out.
This highlights how fragile these places are and what we risk losing if decisions like this aren’t thought through.

A slower start to the week as we adjust to the clocks changing over the weekend. But the work doesn’t stop.
We’re getting things ready for Easter, always one of the busier times of the year for us.
Fresh produce coming in as things gradually build through the week.
All in good time for your Easter table.
