Last week was one of the toughest we’ve had in a long time.
The heatwave was hard enough, but having our walk-in fridge break down on top of that made things incredibly difficult. As a fresh produce shop, we simply can’t shut up early - fresh fruit and veg doesn’t wait, so we’ve been here every day for our usual hours, doing everything we can to keep going.
Sadly, we’ve had to throw away far more vegetables than we’d ever want to. With fewer than half our usual customers coming through the door, it has been heartbreaking to see so much good produce go to waste.
Running a small independent business isn’t just a job to us. It’s early mornings, long days, hard work and a lot of sweat, stress and determination. We pour everything we have into this shop because we genuinely care about providing fresh, affordable produce to our community.
To everyone who came in last week, bought your fruit and veg, shared a kind word or supported us in any way - thank you. You have no idea how much it means to us and you are the reason we’re still here.
Small businesses everywhere are facing huge challenges and we’re no exception. Without regular support from our local community, it’s becoming harder and harder to survive in the current climate.
