First Extraction 2026 🍯

The first honey extraction of 2026 is complete.

There’s something special about lifting that first frame of the season. Fresh honey, golden in the comb, gathered by thousands of busy bees from the flowers and hedgerows of the North Wales countryside.

Our bees have been making the most of the warm days and blossom-filled weeks, and we’re delighted with this first harvest. The extraction room smelled wonderful — a mix of warm wax, fresh honey and summer sunshine.

We’ll be letting the honey settle before jarring, and our first jars of 2026 honey will be available from next weekend.

Thank you for supporting our bees, our orchard, and local honey production.

Echdyniad Cyntaf 2026 🍯

Mae echdyniad mêl cyntaf 2026 wedi’i gwblhau.

Mae rhywbeth arbennig am godi’r ffrâm gyntaf honno o’r tymor. Mêl ffres, euraidd yn y cwyr, wedi’i gasglu gan filoedd o wenyn prysur o flodau a pherthi cefn gwlad Gogledd Cymru.

Mae ein gwenyn wedi manteisio’n llawn ar y dyddiau cynnes a’r wythnosau llawn blodau, ac rydym wrth ein bodd â’r cynhaeaf cyntaf hwn. Roedd yr ystafell echdynnu yn arogli’n hyfryd — cymysgedd o gwyr cynnes, mêl ffres a heulwen haf.

Byddwn yn gadael i’r mêl setlo cyn ei roi mewn jariau, a bydd ein jariau cyntaf o fêl 2026 ar gael o’r penwythnos nesaf ymlaen.

Diolch am gefnogi ein gwenyn, ein perllan, a chynhyrchu mêl lleol.

A Day for the Bees

Today we’re celebrating the quiet work happening all around us.

From blossom to blossom, the bees are shaping the future of the orchard — one small visit at a time.

We see them in the soft hum between the trees. In the steady rhythm of spring unfolding. In the promise of fruit still to come.

World Bee Day feels close to our hearts. A moment to notice, to appreciate, and to protect what makes all this possible.

Thank you, bees. We’re always glad to see you here.

Diwrnod i’r Gwenyn

Heddiw rydym yn dathlu’r gwaith tawel sy’n digwydd o’n cwmpas.

O flodyn i flodyn, mae’r gwenyn yn siapio dyfodol y berllan — un ymweliad bach ar y tro.

Rydym yn eu gweld yn y sŵn meddal rhwng y coed. Yn rhythm cyson y gwanwyn yn datblygu. Yn yr addewid o ffrwyth sydd eto i ddod.

Mae Diwrnod Gwenyn y Byd yn teimlo’n agos at ein calon. Eiliad i sylwi, i werthfawrogi, ac i warchod yr hyn sy’n gwneud hyn i gyd yn bosibl.

Diolch, wenyn. Rydym bob amser yn falch o’ch gweld yma.

Why Blossom Matters

At this time of year, the orchard feels full of promise.

Each small white blossom holds the beginning of something more — a future apple, slowly forming with time, light, and care.

But it doesn’t happen on its own.

Blossom depends on pollinators. Bees moving quietly from flower to flower. Wind carrying pollen between branches. A delicate balance, easily missed if we don’t stop to notice.

Not every blossom becomes fruit — and that’s part of nature’s way. The tree gives what it can sustain.

So when we see the orchard in bloom, we know we’re only at the very beginning of the story.

Pam Mae Blodau’n Bwysig

Ar yr adeg hon o’r flwyddyn, mae’r berllan yn llawn addewid.

Mae pob blodyn gwyn bach yn ddechrau rhywbeth mwy — afal yn y dyfodol, yn ffurfio’n araf gyda amser, golau a gofal.

Ond nid yw’n digwydd ar ei ben ei hun.

Mae blodau’n dibynnu ar beillwyr. Gwenyn yn symud yn dawel o flodyn i flodyn. Y gwynt yn cario paill rhwng y canghennau. Cydbwysedd cain, hawdd ei golli os na fyddwn yn stopio i sylwi.

Nid yw pob blodyn yn troi’n ffrwyth — ac mae hynny’n rhan o ffordd natur. Mae’r goeden yn rhoi’r hyn y gall ei gynnal.

Felly pan welwn y berllan yn ei blodau, rydym yn gwybod mai dim ond dechrau’r stori yw hi.

May Day in the Orchard

May has arrived, and the orchard is full of quiet promise.

Blossom hangs in the branches. Bees drift from flower to flower. The air feels softer now — warmer, gentler, full of life returning.

This May Day, we’re taking a moment to notice it all. The small changes. The steady growth. The rhythm of the land as it moves into a new season.

However you’re spending the bank holiday, we hope you find a little time to step outside and breathe it in.

Calan Mai yn y Berllan

Mae mis Mai wedi cyrraedd, ac mae’r berllan yn llawn addewid tawel.

Blodau ar y canghennau. Gwenyn yn symud o flodyn i flodyn. Mae’r aer yn teimlo’n feddalach nawr — yn gynhesach, yn dynerach, yn llawn bywyd yn dychwelyd.

Y Calan Mai hwn, rydym yn cymryd eiliad i sylwi ar y cyfan. Y newidiadau bach. Y twf cyson. Rhythm y tir wrth iddo symud i dymor newydd.

Beth bynnag rydych chi’n ei wneud dros y penwythnos hir, gobeithiwn y cewch chi amser i fynd allan a’i fwynhau.

A fourth apiary in Denbigh

This week, we’ve completed the setup of our fourth apiary — here in Denbigh.

It’s a carefully chosen site. Good forage nearby, strong hedgerows, and the right conditions for the bees to build well through the season.

Establishing a new apiary takes time. Positioning the hives properly. Letting the colonies settle. Making sure everything is in place before the season gathers pace.

It’s a steady piece of work, but an important one — supporting healthier colonies and a stronger season ahead.

Pedwaredd gwenynfa yn Ninbych

Yr wythnos hon, rydyn ni wedi cwblhau sefydlu ein pedwaredd gwenynfa — yma yn Ninbych.

Mae’n safle wedi’i ddewis yn ofalus. Digon o fwyd gerllaw, gwrychoedd cryf, a’r amodau cywir i’r gwenyn adeiladu’n dda drwy’r tymor.

Mae sefydlu gwenynfa newydd yn cymryd amser. Gosod y cychod gwenyn yn gywir. Gadael i’r cytrefi setlo. Sicrhau bod popeth yn ei le cyn i’r tymor gyflymu.

Mae’n waith cyson, ond yn un pwysig — yn cefnogi cytrefi iachach a thymor cryfach o’n blaenau.

No Mow May starts today

We’re leaving parts of the orchard uncut this month.

Longer grass and wildflowers give bees and other pollinators a steady food source at an important time of year.

You don’t need acres to make a difference — even a small patch left to grow can help.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Mae No Mow May yn dechrau heddiw

Rydyn ni’n gadael rhannau o’r berllan heb eu torri’r mis hwn.

Mae glaswellt hirach a blodau gwyllt yn rhoi ffynhonnell fwyd gyson i wenyn a pheillwyr eraill ar adeg bwysig o’r flwyddyn.

Does dim angen caeau mawr i wneud gwahaniaeth — gall hyd yn oed darn bach sy’n cael tyfu helpu.

A special delivery

A quieter kind of excitement in the orchard this week — a small box, carefully handled.

Inside, some of this season’s queen bees.

These are part of a wider group arriving over the coming days, each one playing a role in strengthening and shaping our hives for the season ahead. It’s one of the most important parts of beekeeping, and something we take our time with.

They’ll be introduced slowly, giving the colonies time to settle and accept their new queen.

From there, everything begins to build.

Danfoniad arbennig

Cyffro tawel yn y berllan yr wythnos hon — bocs bach, wedi’i drin yn ofalus.

Y tu mewn, rhai o freninesau gwenyn y tymor hwn.

Mae’r rhain yn rhan o grŵp ehangach sy’n cyrraedd dros y dyddiau nesaf, pob un yn chwarae rhan wrth gryfhau a siapio ein cychod gwenyn ar gyfer y tymor sydd i ddod. Mae’n rhan bwysig iawn o gadw gwenyn, ac rydyn ni’n cymryd ein hamser gyda hyn.

Byddant yn cael eu cyflwyno’n araf, gan roi amser i’r cytrefi setlo a derbyn eu brenhines newydd.

O’r fan honno, mae popeth yn dechrau tyfu.

Pasg Hapus o’r Berllan

Dymunwn Pasg hapus i chi, yn llawn golau, cynhesrwydd, ac ychydig o amser i oedi a mwynhau’r tymor.

O’n berllan yng Ngogledd Cymru, lle mae’r blodau’n dechrau agor a’r gwenyn yn dychwelyd, rydym yn anfon ein dymuniadau gorau atoch.

Gyda chariad,
Perllan y Bwthyn

Spring preparations in the orchard 🐝🌱

It’s been a busy couple of months here getting ready for the new season.
Some of the nuc boxes, hives and stands are now built, painted and set out, ready for the bees when spring really gets going.

There’s always something satisfying about this stage of the year — fresh paint, clean timber, and the feeling that the orchard is waking up again.
Bit by bit, everything comes together.

Plenty more still to do, but it’s a good start.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Paratoi ar gyfer y gwanwyn yn y berllan 🐝🌱

Mae wedi bod yn gwpl o fisoedd prysur yma wrth baratoi ar gyfer y tymor newydd.
Mae rhai o’r bocsys nuc, y cychod gwenyn a’r standiau bellach wedi’u gwneud, eu paentio a’u gosod allan, yn barod ar gyfer y gwenyn pan fydd y gwanwyn yn dechrau o ddifrif.

Mae rhywbeth boddhaol iawn am yr adeg yma o’r flwyddyn — paent ffres, pren glân, a’r teimlad bod y berllan yn deffro eto.
Cam wrth gam, mae popeth yn dod at ei gilydd.

Mae digon mwy i’w wneud o hyd, ond mae’n ddechrau da.
