The bees are enjoying a rain day almost as much as the plants are. 🐝🌧️

After several dry weeks, decent sustained rain is particularly welcome around the apiaries. It’s not just about filling water sources: it can restart nectar production in plants that had effectively shut down, soften the ground, and give late-summer flowering plants a chance to recover.

Popped into today to top up the honey shelf. Also took the opportunity to indulge in a coffee and lush Bacon and Cheese Croissant brunch 😋

🐝 Beekeeper experience! 🐝

Yesterday we welcomed two budding beekeepers for an A & T Hives Beekeeper Experience.

We started with a chat about who we are, our history and experience. A H&S brief... it's a must. . Then time to suit up and meet some of our best-behaved bees! 🐝

Our guests, Gary and Kiki got hands-on with the hives, learning what to look for and experiencing what it's actually like to work with a colony of honey bees.

And you can't get much more hive to table than this... they even got to harvest their own comb honey straight from the hive to take home. 🍯

We chose this particular apiary because one of our guests was recovering from a leg operation, so easier access was important. Beekeeping doesn't always happen in the most accessible places, but where we can adapt an experience to someone's needs, we will.

They finished the day with certificates, their own freshly harvested comb honey and, judging by those grins, two very happy new beekeepers! 😁🐝🍯
