Recipe inspiration: Tonkatsu Venison Donburi 🥢🦌
Crispy, rich, and packed with flavour. Venison works beautifully with a bold katsu-style sauce, and using diced venison steak gives the bowl an amazing texture.
How to make my quick Tonkatsu sauce:
• 2 tbsp ketchup
• 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
• 1 tbsp soy sauce
• 1 tbsp oyster sauce
• 1 tsp honey or brown sugar
• ½ tsp garlic powder
• Pinch of black pepper
Mix everything together until smooth. Taste and adjust sweetness or saltiness if needed.
For the bowl:
I used diced venison steak, lightly seasoned, seared until golden and crisp then coated in sauce. Serve over hot sushi rice and drizzle generously with the tonkatsu sauce. Add shredded cabbage or spring onions for crunch.
