Meet the Committee behind Blisland Village Community Shop ❤️
We thought it was time to introduce ourselves properly.
We're all volunteers, and we're all passionate about keeping our community shop, café, Post Office and facilities thriving for the benefit of the village.
Since being re-elected just a few weeks ago, we've already been busy working on everything from café improvements and building repairs to finances, governance, communications, tenant support and future planning. Much of this work happens quietly behind the scenes, but it all helps keep this wonderful community asset running.
Gary Bacon is helping lead improvements to the café while continuing to volunteer both in the shop and on the committee.
Sarah Moloney is Joint Chair and looks after much of the shop's communications, social media and technology.
Sam Bicheno is Joint Chair and Postmaster, helping keep one of the village's most important services running while also overseeing building improvements and repairs.
Maggie Stirling volunteers in both the shop and café and works closely with our tenants, helping ensure they feel supported and valued.
Edith Carey keeps us organised, managing agendas, minutes and much of the administration that keeps everything moving forward.
Beth Cauldwell has taken on the role of Treasurer and is helping oversee the financial wellbeing of the shop alongside our bookkeeper, accountant and committee.
Steve Pease has recently taken on the role of Data Protection Lead, helping ensure we continue to operate responsibly and professionally.
Of course, these titles and responsibilities only tell part of the story.
Like most community organisations, everyone mucks in wherever they're needed. Whether that's serving customers, supporting volunteers, attending meetings, solving problems, making tea, planning projects or dealing with the countless day-to-day jobs that come with running a community enterprise, we're all working towards the same goal.
No one person keeps the shop going. It's a team effort, supported by our fantastic volunteers, staff, tenants and wider community.
We're proud to serve Blisland and we're always happy to chat, answer questions and hear your ideas. If you see us around, please come and say hello.
Thank you for supporting your community shop.
