************ UK FOOD REGULATIONS **********
HYGIENE
Your essential responsibilities to consumers under the Food Safety Act which you should be aware of are stated as:
· to ensure you do not include anything in food, remove anything from food or treat food in any way which means it would be damaging to the health of people eating it;
· to ensure that the food you serve or sell is of the nature, substance or quality which consumers would expect;
· to ensure that the food is labelled, advertised and presented in a way that is not false or misleading. Almost all food premises, whether that is your kitchen at home or elsewhere, need to be registered with the local environmental health department. There are some exceptions, for example the FSA advice is that generally community or charity operations providing food less frequently than once a month will not need to be registered

(see http://food.gov.uk/multimedia/pdfs/hall-provision.pdf). It’s therefore best to speak to your local environmental health department about registration sooner rather than later, as strictly you are meant to register 28 days before you start trading. Registration is free of charge and, so long as you complete the form correctly, your local environmental health department has no right to refuse to your application to register the premises. We hope this helps your cooking!
