Infinity Foods Co-operative Ltd Infinity Foods Shop & Bakery Organic and Wholefoods Shop in the Heart of Brightons North Laine district. There are no outside shareholders or owners to satisfy.
(1)

Over the years, in line with the increasing demand for natural and organic wholefoods, Infinity Foods has in turn grown and evolved. What began as a small shop in 1971; is today a thriving, bustling shop brimming with an extensive range of vegetarian products ranging from store cupboard essentials to freshly baked bread and seasonal fruit and vegetables. There have been several moves and expansion

s along the way but our founding principles and ethics have remained constant and continue to guide our business practice to this day. Having followed us along our journey, many of our regular customers are part of our story and we are hugely proud of their loyalty and commitment. As each new change dawns at Infinity, our excitement is shared and mirrored in the rapport and exchange between staff and customers, something that we welcome and value greatly. Infinity Foods has been a workers' co-operative since 1979. Simply defined, a workers' co-operative is a business run by its workers for its workers. It is jointly owned and democratically run by its members. This creates a more motivated and unified workforce where everyone feels involved in the successful running of the business. Each member has a vote and can give input via regular member meetings. Ideas of equality and fairness are fundamental to the co-operative. We gauge the success of the business not only in terms of profit but also through environmental and social responsibility and involvement in our local community. What we grow, eat, & share should nourish more than just us.

It should care for the land, the rivers, and the wildlife we live alongside.

Pesticides are finding their way into our food and into the wild places we depend on - Take glyphosate — a chemical used in common w**d killers. It’s now widely detected in soil and water, and traces can end up in everyday foods. There’s growing concern about what this means for long-term health, and for the ecosystems that keep our food system alive.

One use in particular stands out: spraying crops just before harvest to dry them more quickly and evenly. It’s efficient, but it also means residues can remain on the food we eat, from bread to beer to breakfast cereals.

There's a better way

We are certified organic by The Soil Association.
Like us they have been chipping away at change.

The Soil Association is calling for
šŸ… An end to the use of glyphosate as a pre-harvest drying agent.
🄦 Stronger safeguards on pesticide residues in food
šŸ Better support for farmers moving towards nature-friendly farming

If this matters to you, you can add your voice and be part of that change.

Your shopping should include a hello, not just a beep.

Long before self-checkouts arrived, conveyor belt tills transformed UK food shops in the mid-20th century. Making shopping smoother without losing the human touch.

We think they still get it right - everything from Kombucha to Kale should pass through caring hands.

Because community matters more than convenience alone. And progress isn’t always about replacing people with machines.

Have you got a green thumb?

We get a fresh delivery of seedlings every Friday morning - this will continue for the next few weeks.

We have your favourites like tomatoes and herbs. Potatoes and corn and even some fruit canes and trees.

What makes our seedlings different from what you get in the supermarket?
They are grown strong and hard outside, in a local organic nursery in Peacehaven. Whereas the supermarkets force there's on in hot houses, so they tend to be short-lived... all leaf with no roots.

Our freshly cut flowers aren't like the others you get at the supermarket.

These fresh flowers are grown on the farm at Laines Organic Farm for biodiversity, encouraging pollinators and beneficial beasties to the farm, while also diverting pests away from the crops to the flowers.

šŸ…VEG NEWS🄦

We are coming to the end of the hungry gap - the time of year between the end of winter crops and the start of summer bounty.

Yet our veg fridges are full - full of the best in European organic produce and lots of British and Sussex too.

We have jersey royals from jersey! And the season is perfect this year, they are fantastic new potatoes with a unique taste of the season. With lashings of butter or garlic infused olive oil.

Talking of garlic, we have these fantastic bouquets of wild garlic from Laines organic farm less than 15 miles away from the shop. It's all edible, and the flowers make a great garnish. To make the most of the season, make a wild garlic pesto.

Now... The best sign the hungry gap is ending is the beginning of rhubarb! Try a rhubarb frangipane or rhubarb and custard upside down cake. Or how about a classic crumble? All British grown.

Our asparagus is much cheaper this year! We are buying it in bulk and bunching it up ourselves to get you the best price. UK grown in Cambridgeshire... And it wouldn't be right for us not to sell the purple variety, you don't often see it in the supermarkets.

All proving
there's a better way to eat.

Every year on April 22nd, people around the world come together to celebrate Earth Day!

A moment to reconnect with the planet that sustains us, and to stand up for its future.

Why it matters
Earth Day is about care in action. It shines a light on the urgent need to protect our climate, nurture biodiversity, and safeguard the essentials we all share — clean air, fresh water, and healthy soil.

How people mark the day.
From community gardens to street marches, Earth Day is filled with grassroots energy. Tree planting. Workshops. Shared learning. Collective care for local spaces.

Small actions, shared impact
We believe everyday choices matter. Earth Day is a gentle nudge to keep growing those habits:
Choosing to reduce, reuse, and refill where you can
Eating with the seasons and leaning into more plant-based meals
Supporting local growers and sustainable producers
Getting involved in your community - whether that’s a litter pick or planting for pollinators.

Because.

there's a better way, to shop, eat, love & work.
