Yesterday I spent the morning in Shirehampton, a few stops from Bristol Temple Meads station 🚉
Not in a 'passing through community vibes' kind of way, I was invited to take part in the making of the new high street market.
Walking the high street to shops worth visiting, having coffee and cake to Mark's , learn about card games with the new Luke's , seeing what’s moving, what feels good for their community. And something stood out.
When the market lost its home just after the 6th anniversary, it didn’t disappear. It quickly adapted.
A few steps down the road, the Methodist Church and Hub opened its doors. More space, indoor and outdoor, right in the middle of the high street.
But more than the location, people stepped in: organisers, volunteers, traders… everyone pulling in the same direction.
You can feel it. It’s not staged, it’s not 'marketed' It’s real. Shirehampton Action is behind the scene engine that is making this community move fast and unite.
If you’re around Bristol, the Market opening is worth the trip.
📍 Shirehampton Market
🗓 Thursday 2 April | 9am–2pm
Not just to buy, but to see what a local community is supposed to feel like.
Easy to get there by train Temple Meads station or bus from the city centre
I’ll be there too
🥕 ADV 😅
I am working a bit behind the scenes, helping bring more local food in. I will be hosting a stall where selected local food brands are displayed, tested and sold. Some local legends have been already successfully involved ♥️
If you want more info get in touch. Happy to source your fav brands to offer visibility to local makers.
🙌🏽 Come by, say hi, and support something that’s actually built by people who care.
