The Seed - Buckfastleigh's Community Wholefood Store The Seed came into recognition late 2013 and through dedication, determination, continued hard-work and keeping true to its ethics. MORE TO COME

It has become one of the countries real success stories in terms of being a sustainable and profitable Social Enterprise. It's founders, Sefton and Liz took a risk by plunging their savings, from the sale of Sefton's gardening business in Kent, and created an enterprise based on their heady social ideals. The Seed had a shaky few years with the couple not really earning a wage but they strived and

were resolute through some very tough times and the business after nearly coming to a halt, rose like a phoenix and has never looked back. It's values have understandably changed in order to work with and understand better the community of which it has become intrinsically linked but that is not to say, they have become diluted due to growth but the opposite, better turnover has helped The Seed realise the greater things it can do. The Seed regularly donates its profits to local non-profit organisations and has just recently assisted Hylsten Bakery after their fire with £1500, it also supports all of its local suppliers with cost-price goods and a personal discount when shopping at The Seed. They also provide a very generous discount card where customers can save upto 10% of their shopping.
