As we all know, weight loss is rarely linear. The scales only tell a small part of the story.

Reducing body fat, losing inches, feeling stronger, and increasing muscle mass are often far more meaningful indicators of progress than a number on the scales.

This week has shown exactly why it’s important to look at the bigger picture. Consistent habits, patience, and focusing on the right variables are paying off.

Keep trusting the process, celebrating the non-scale victories, and recognising just how far you’ve come. The goal isn’t simply to weigh less, it’s to build a stronger, healthier, more resilient body. 💚

🌟 Exciting News for Discover Health! 🌟

I’m delighted to share that The Happy Movement has been accepted as part of the Burnley HAF Enhancement Activities Programme this summer.

The Happy Movement is a fun, interactive wellbeing workshop designed to help children and young people understand the importance of:

💚 Movement for physical and mental wellbeing
🥗 Nutrition and healthy habits
🧠 Emotional wellbeing and resilience
⭐ Confidence and self-esteem
🤝 Positive social connection

In a world where children face increasing pressures, giving them the tools to understand their bodies, minds and emotions has never been more important.

Through engaging activities, discussions and movement, our aim is to empower young people with knowledge and practical skills they can take away and use every day.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported this journey so far. I can’t wait to work with local holiday clubs and inspire the next generation to prioritise their health and wellbeing.

“There are always flowers for those who want to see them.”

A simple quote, but one that carries a powerful message.

Every day we are presented with challenges, setbacks, pressures and uncertainty. Yet in those same days there are also opportunities, lessons, moments of gratitude and reasons to keep moving forward.

The difference is often not our circumstances, but where we choose to focus our attention.

In health, business and life, it’s easy to become consumed by what’s not working:
❌ The weight that’s not shifting
❌ The project that’s taking longer than expected
❌ The goal that’s still out of reach

But progress often comes from recognising what’s going well:
✅ The habits you’re building
✅ The lessons you’re learning
✅ The resilience you’re developing
✅ The small wins that compound over time

Perspective doesn’t change reality, but it can change how we respond to it.

For years, women were sold the idea that success meant being smaller.

Smaller waist.
Smaller dress size.
Smaller number on the scales.

But what if we’ve been focusing on the wrong goal?

As we move through our 30s, 40s, 50s and beyond, muscle becomes one of the most important tissues we have.

Muscle supports metabolism.
Muscle protects our bones.
Muscle improves balance and mobility.
Muscle helps us stay independent for longer.
Muscle supports healthy ageing.

Yet years of chronic dieting, under-eating and constantly chasing weight loss can often leave women with less muscle, reduced strength and a greater risk of frailty and osteoporosis later in life.

A huge shoutout to my more mature clients. 👏💚

While social media often focuses on getting smaller, losing weight, or chasing the latest trend, you’re quietly doing something far more important…

You’re investing in your future.

Every workout completed, every walk taken, every protein-rich meal eaten and every healthy choice made is helping you maintain something incredibly valuable, “your muscle mass.”

As we age, we naturally lose muscle if we don’t actively work to preserve it. Muscle isn’t just about strength or aesthetics; it’s about independence, balance, mobility, bone health, metabolism and quality of life.

What impresses me most isn’t your performance in the gym. It’s your consistency.

You continue to show up.
You stick to your routine.
You prioritise your health.
You understand that health is easier to maintain than repair.

The goal isn’t to be the strongest person in the room. The goal is to be able to enjoy life, keep doing the things you love, and remain strong and capable for years to come.

Keep lifting.
Keep moving.

Your goals don’t have to change just because the kids are off school.

Summer holidays bring a different routine, but they don’t have to mean putting your health on hold.

Show your children how to navigate life’s challenges by continuing to prioritise your wellbeing. Let them see you making time to move your body, manage stress, and look after your health.

Remember, children learn more from what we do than what we say.

You’re not just working out for yourself, you’re setting an example that health, self-care and resilience matter, even when life gets busy.
