Today is an emotional day for us at Meadows as it is the last shift for our most awesome pastry chef

Shannon’s work is what Meadows is all about; incredibly consistent quality of the highest order. Food that is unbelievably delicious yet approachable and unassuming, made with so much love and care that it really is a hug in every brown paper bag!

For so many of our customers, Shannon will have made their best ever brownie, chocolate chip cookie, salad, focaccia, granola, gingerbread, mince pie, Christmas cake. She has raised the bar of what is ‘the most delicious ever’ for so many of us. At Meadows, serving the ‘most delicious’ that we can source or make ourselves simply is our job and no-one does that better than Shannon.

But we won’t only miss her cooking, we will miss her love and friendship. That’s been a constant for four years and a feeling of family has grown around that tiny back kitchen with Shan at the heart of it. We’ve laughed, cried, sworn loudly, hid behind the fridge, brewed so many coffees and opened wine at questionable hours on December days. I can’t yet begin to conceive of Meadows without her in it!

Shan we will miss you and we send you on your way over to Bristol with all the love and appreciation of the whole Meadows community as well as all our best wishes for you and your beautiful family in your next chapter ❤️😘

It is summer somewhere! While we wait for it to join us, we are suggesting an indoor picnic with all of this delicious produce carefully sourced from sunnier climes due south.

It’s definitely ok to feel grumpy about this weather but it’s also ok to indulge in a bit of delicious summer fruit to cheer up the weekend. Pretty healthy self-care 🍓🍑

There’s a new bean on the block.

We almost spilled the beans on this new bean launch but now they are officially out in the world, we can tell you that we are thrilled to have Borlotti join the gang on our shelves.

These Borlotti are insanely delicious and, AND, they are an exclusive for indie stockists of so if you want these extra special ones, you’ve got to pop by your extra special local indie specialist food shop to get your hands on them. We’re ready for you and while you’re with us be sure to have a chat about recipe ideas and other ingredients that we might have in-store to accompany those brilliant Borlotti.

While we’re at it, let’s also have a chat about all the many and various ways that the beans will save us 🫘

We are incredibly proud of Iz, who, many of you will know, is the shop manager of our Eltisley Avenue shop. This week and next she will be missing in action. And what incredible action it is!

She’ll only be doing 1600km or so by bike Land’s End to John o’ Groats to raise funds for MacMillan. She’s talked about it, she’s meticulously planned it and now she’s doing it with the admiration and love and support of all of us. 4 days / 1/3 of the journey already done!

Love a restock. Their new(ish) packaging is just so joyful, it brings and real sense of Suffolk sunshine to the shop.

We definitely count our neighbouring East Anglia counties as local and have been proud stockists of Pump Street since we opened five years ago.
