Teaching by Empowering! Encouraging kids to take action on sustainability 👏

We were delighted to host a Practical Learning session led by lovely Miss Pearman for pupils of .patrixbourne.school who have been learning about climate change, plastic pollution and food waste.

Members of their KS2 Eco Council came to the shop for a hands-on opportunity to explore the different ways their family households can reduce both plastic packaging and food waste.

They were beautifully behaved, inquisitive and enthusiastic about our eco-friendly shop. We have to trust in the next generation to be kinder to our planet 💪

Here's a simple summary on why I don't sell Ecover cleaning products (*BUT* am very happy to refill empty Ecover bottles with our preferred eco-friendly range 😉)

Before its takeover by SC Johnson, Ecover performed relatively well in Ethical Consumer's rating, scoring 11 out of 14. But because of its parent company practices, its rating drops to only 7 out of 14.

In our ethical due-diligence I believe it's always necessary to "follow the money" - and if shareholders are making returns at the expense of people and planet it's irrelevant to me how "green" the product is.

In any case, we stock FILL and The Bio-D Company cleaning products, both highly ranked (in the top 5) by Ethical Consumer, super effective and closed-loop (zero waste) - we love them! ❤️
