Where Chef Shorty Came From & How It All Began ❤️👨🍳
A lot of people know Chef Shorty now, but not everyone knows where the journey started.
When I was a kid, I used to sit with my Nan, Chiv, with a little notebook, planning out the hotel we always dreamed of having. The whole family would work there, and I’d be the chef. Looking back now, that was probably where it all began.
I was brought up around proper home-cooked family meals, and whenever someone was cooking, you’d find me hanging around the kitchen watching, learning, and helping where I could. That’s where my love of food and cooking came from.
Like most teenagers, I spent my younger years going out and enjoying life. But then my world changed when my Nan passed away. I hit rock bottom. Drugs, alcohol, bad decisions—I lost myself for a long time.
The hardest part wasn’t what I did to myself; it was the hurt I caused my family. But through it all, they stood by me. They never gave up on me, and eventually I found my way back from a very dark place.
I started this business 9 years ago, but illness turned my world upside down and forced everything to take a back seat. The last few years have been some of the toughest I’ve faced, but they’ve also taught me that life is far too short not to chase your dreams.
So in February, I made the decision to make a comeback.
And what a journey it’s been so far.
The support, encouragement, and love I’ve received has been overwhelming, and I honestly can’t thank you all enough. My customers, friends, and family have made this possible.
Next week, we’re launching our brand new Yorkshire Wraps, and I couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead.
This isn’t just a business to me. It’s a dream that started with a little notebook, a loving Nan, and a kid who wanted to be a chef.
Here’s to moving forward, growing bigger, and making more memories.
