🚧 ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE 🚧

As of Monday, Great Orton Crossroads will be closed in both directions for approximately 3 weeks.

This means anyone travelling to the shop will not be able to enter the village via the crossroads. However, we will still be open as usual! 🥩

We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience while the roadworks are carried out.

Sections of the and will be closed whilst carriageway resurfacing works are carried out.

This is anticipated to take up to 19 days.

📍 Location of works:

* C2051 Orton Road – from a point approximately 370 metres east of its junction with the U1130, extending in an overall easterly direction for approximately 310 metres.
* C1021 (between Great Orton and Baldwinholme) – from a point approximately 620 metres north west of its junction with the U1131 (Baldwinholme), extending in a north westerly direction over the crossroads with the C2051 for a total distance of approximately 390 metres.

⚠️ Alternative Route:

For the C2051 closure:
Via the unrestricted sections of the C2051, A689, Moorhouse Roundabout, B5307, Moorhouse, Thurstonfield and C1021 (Great Orton).

For the C1021 closure:
Via the unrestricted sections of the C1021, A595, Newby West Roundabout, A689, Moorhouse Roundabout, B5307, Moorhouse, Thurstonfield and C1021 (Great Orton).

🚲 A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will BE MAINTAINED at all times.

🚨 Emergency Services:
Access for emergency vehicles will BE MAINTAINED where required for the duration of this restriction.

The role includes:
Full carcass breakdown
Preparing and presenting meat to a high standard
Producing quality cuts and counter displays
Maintaining cleanliness and food hygiene standards

Experience in full carcass butchery is essential
Reliable, hardworking and able to work as part of a team
Passion for quality local produce
Friendly and professional attitude

Probably our best counter of the year so far! Fully stocked this weekend with something for everyone, from all your favourite flavoured sausages and Chinese pork ribs, to minted lamb chops and black garlic minute steaks. If you prefer to keep it traditional, we’ve got plenty of classic Cumberland sausage too.

All of our meat is locally sourced from Cumbria, so whether you’re after roasting joints or quality steaks, we’ve got you covered!
