We are back open as normal today. Apologies if you missed us yesterday - Alf’s team had a tournament (which they won! Off to the national finals now 🎉)…

But back to our usual hours today 8-4.

Ps. We’ve now also got a small range of cookbooks - we’ll get in ones that we particularly love, writers that bring me joy in my own kitchen and pens we think will bring you joy too.

Martyn is off to the House of Commons today with a group of other business leaders representing hospitality to speak to the business minister about the issues facing our sector.

As such the local will be closed today (Monday) as Tara in the kitchen at Southsea Coffee covering holiday so apologies to anyone coming down.

You can grab a coffee from though 💪💪.

Three years of the tiny yellow shop today... It's OUR BIRTHDAY!

👉which also means 13 years of the pink OG tomorrow🤯…. Yes. The Local turns 3 today and Southsea Coffee turns 13 tomorrow... two little indie businesses, ten years apart, both built with a lot of graft, a lot of love, and a very big amount of “surely we can make this work?”

To make the birthday week even better, the new edition of Southsea Folk has just landed, with our two shops sitting side by side in print. The pink one and the yellow one. Looking pretty damn iconic if you ask me 😉.

We’re ALSO finalists in the Muddy Stilettos Awards - Southsea Coffee for Best Café and Southsea Local for Best Deli/Farm Shop which still feels a bit mad and very lovely.

Peak season veg is BACK.

Yes, I have my own allotment. No, it is not currently providing those green beans from last year. (Yet).

But the hope is real because seasonal veg is starting to return and quite frankly, we are ready.

As you know, our shop is tiny.

Very cute, very full, very much “how have we fitted this much in here?”... SO we only stock fresh veg through spring, summer and early autumn because even we can’t quite cram a full greengrocer into Southsea Local.

But when the good stuff starts coming in?

We are ALL. OVER. IT.

Soooo! We’re FINALISTS!

Our little modern food shop is a finalist in the best deli/farm shop category on the awards.

We have 4 weeks to get as many votes as possible and are up against some AMAZING delis. We would so appreciate a vote.

NEW SMALL BATCH ALERT.

Blake popped into our inbox to see if we’d stock his new and after one taste, it was a very quick yes from us.

Handmade in Shoreham-by-Sea, this is not your standard chilli sauce. It’s peanutty, zingy, limey, with a slow jalapeño heat that builds nicely without blowing your head off.

We had it on tacos on Friday night and kept going back for more and more (as did the teenager). 😂

On the shelves now. Small batch, properly delicious, and exactly the kind of indie food brand we love getting behind.
