Now, that beautiful high street connection has been completely replaced by an industrial, faceless shopping culture.
Young people today prefer to walk through massive, silent supermarkets and pick up cold plastic trays of mass produced meat from an automated shelf without exchanging a single word with another human being. They treat food like a generic corporate factory product, completely ignoring the traditional expertise and common sense advice of local independent shopkeepers. This modern shift is starving our historic town centers of their unique character and leaving our neighborhoods feeling empty and antisocial. You simply cannot replace the genuine care and community spirit of a local butcher with a self service barcode scanner.
