Bit of a grumble post... âšī¸
Over the last couple of weeks we had noticed someone was "cherry picking" the eggs we placed out, taking all the large white or brown eggs and leaving the regular sized blue and green ones.
We make sure our egg trays have a good mix of size and colours in them to make it fair, but also our smaller coloured eggs often have the bigger yolks!
Not sure if the cherry-pickers were aware that they were potentially shooting themselves in the foot with their inconsiderate behaviour... but hopefully now they do! đ¤Ļđŧââī¸
Additionally, on collecting the box in this morning, we noticed that despite a full box of eggs being placed out, only ÂŖ2 had been paid...
As our box is usually placed on the wall by the main road for easy access, we have no idea if people are taking eggs without paying, or of its other passers-by taking advantage of its easy location and taking cash out of the box for themselves (we get a lot of walkers and school children going past). This behaviour is, quite frankly, theft.
I work from home most days, and it really does please me to see people come and go, and enjoy the eggs we put out for sale. Some regulars will drive and park up, others will walk and carry their eggs home. It really is such a nice feeling to play a somewhat small part in the community.
I don't know if we're just having a bad week, but there seems to be a trend of inconsiderate behaviour ruining things for everyone else, and its incredibly frustrating đŽâđ¨
We're going to think about where we place our box in the future... We do have security cameras on our property which would solve this problem immediately, but we're also very mindful of the mobility needs of some of our regulars, and the last thing we want to do is to make things difficult for the decent people we sell to.
Not much we can do about the thefts now, but we're hoping this is just a blip. As always, thanks to everyone who have bought from us so far, we really appreciate it đ
