🐝🐝both of us here at Struan have been awaiting a very special delivery, our final drop of the year of new queen bees… big thanks to all at thehiveguys.. excellent service! Delivery of our buckfast strain queens today meant some extra hours for a Saturday. These are now placed into nucs to give us extra hives, , nice strong colonies all being well! All in preparation ahead of Heather season. 💪this time of year we can hit the ‘June gap ‘which means the bees have nothing to forage on so need fed. We are between the blooms of spring/summer and what comes late summer/autumn, that being mostly heather for us!
Thanks to our wonderful postie for delivering safely , he must have been extremely curious 🐝🐝😆

Happy World Bee Day 🐝🍯

Today we’re celebrating the little pollinators behind one of nature’s finest luxuries — beautiful Scottish honey from Struan. Perfect spread over toast, paired with cheese, or simply enjoyed by the spoonful.

🐝🐝Not everyone delights in the blooming of Oil seed r**e. (OSR) but for honey bees it’s a very important crop! Sadly it brings the dreaded hayfever on in many many folk! 🤧of course one of the best ways to combat the effects of hay fever is eat local honey daily.
We as bee farmers smile when this crop appears but it is also the beginning of a brand new season! Exciting times!

🐝🐝 how many of you confidently know the difference between our lovely honeybee, the wonderful bumble bee and wasps. All very different with completely different jobs! All 3 are equally important!
It’s good to know whether it’s bumble bees or honeybees visiting your garden.
Wasps keep the greenfly 🐛 and other aphids under control… they’re not just here to sting us!

Meet nature’s tiny heroes 🐝✨ Honeybees make honey, bumblebees love flowers 🌼, and wasps help control pests 🐛. Each plays a vital role in our ecosystem 🌍—beautiful, fascinating, and important in their own unique way. Respect them and stay safe!

🐝🐝 take a look at the original Struan stoneware pot (version 2)🍯it’s hard to believe that this is what we filled with honey 35 years ago!! Going back a few years there!!
The pic was sent to us by a lovely lady in Wales who found it in a cupboard of old property she bought. ☺️

🐝🐝We love seeing this, it always makes us happy to see our honey 🍯on display at the wonderful Speyside Centre. If you haven’t already called in there you definitely should!
