A midi Camel skirt and top Combo
My pair of Jaeger brand camel wool trousers worn for eight years as part of my business range of clothes. Created a mood board of clothes from my wardrobe and the trousers featured centre stage. With age my body shape changed and the trousers did not fit well. Relegated to the back of my wardrobe for a full season. Took me time to work out a solution for reuse/repurposing as did not want to part with them. Charity donation an option. Decided to transform into a midi skirt that involved stripping down the garment.
Well -made clothes are easy to dismantle, fast fashion has an issue with disassembly.
Designed and created a pattern to install a pleat and a back section.
Bought a quality remnant piece of fabric from an independent retail shop. Thought there was enough to make a top but not able to cut out long sleeves. Cut out sleeves in 2 halves and used a piece of trim to join up the sleeves.
Left over fabric from the trousers used to make the cuffs and the collar
Enjoyed the creative challenge and sewing the skirt and top
Continue to wear for business networking meetings.
