This seasons Veg Boxes are available again. All vegetables are naturally grown without use of pesticides/fungicides. Large box £17, Small box £12. Delivery within 12 miles of Blackwatertown included. Delivery times are on Friday or Saturday between 2-7pm.

To order just message this page what size box is required, address and the day of preferred delivery.

This weeks box includes: Spring Onion, Beetroot, Cabbage, Broccoli, Leeks, Celtuce, Salad Mix, Carrot, Cherry Tomatoes, Cucumber, Leaf Celery, Pattypan Squash, Chard, Potatoes and French Beans.

Chilacoyote/Fig-leaf Gourd/Shark Fin Melon. My first time growing this and i was surprised by how well it grows here considering it's origin is the Southern USA/South America, some of the vines grew 30m+ in length. Unusually, the ripe fruit can store for up to 7 years due to their thick rind. The immature fruit are used like a courgette, the mature fruit is often used as a meat substitute in vegetarian stews, enchilada's etc. The seeds are baked and eaten as a roasted snack or made into brittle instead of peanuts. It's also used in sweet dishes, the mature fruit is often candied or boiled with pineapple and sugar to make a sweet beverage. In Asia it is most commonly used as substitute for shark fin in shark fin soup.

Lovely crop of garlic this year and perfect weather for drying them down to cure.

Vegetable Boxes are available again from this week onwards.
The fist two weeks boxes will not contain potatoes, as very late frosts and dry spring weather has meant the tubers have been slow to size up. The first 2 weeks boxes will have a reduced price but normal prices will be £10 for the small box and £15 for the large box.
Delivery days are Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

What's in the large box this week: spring onions, rhubarb, looseleaf lettuce, field beans, carrots, beetroot, cabbage, cucumber, courgette, potatoes, spinach, mizuna & golden frills. Herbs: flat leaf parsley, coriander & dill.

Some multicoloured beetroot.The non-red varieties taste the same but won't stain everything red when preparing them to eat. Varieties; Albino, Chioggia and Touchstone Gold.

What's in the large box this week. The vegetables are; cabbage, rocket, huauzontle, new potatoes, red oakleaf lettuce, celery, chard, garlic, beetroot, carrots, spring onions, cucumber and courgette. Herbs are; flat leaf parsley, winter savoury and oregano.

Huauzontle ready for its first picking this week. This was grown by the Aztec and hails from Mexico. It has a lovely spinach flavour but unlike spinach it holds up much better to cooking with much less shrinkage.

Courgettes are in full swing in the polytunnel at the minute. These are trieste white courgettes from Italy and stay tender to much larger sizes than most types of courgette.

Golden cucumber variety poona kheera from india. As well their beautiful colour these are crisper than regular cucumber varieties.
