food. We aim to support small-scale local producers with an ethos

of low ecological
impact and make this good healthy food accessible to everyone in our
community at affordable prices, or for free. We strive to build community
resilience and participation and improve the health and well-being of local
people as well as our local ecosystems and economy. We have 3 projects that work towards these aims. Between our Grocery,
Kitchen and Loveland projects we encourage the community to buy good food
from us, eat good food with us and grow good food with us.

We did it!!! 🥳

Thanks to your generosity we raised a whopping £27,344! We’ve been truly blown away by the support and it’s been heartening to see our community coming together to secure Loveland’s future 🫂

You’ll be pleased to hear we’re going to stop banging on about it now, but will be squirreling away in the background making these dreams a reality!

We have less than 24 hours of our Crowdfunder, can we get to our final target?!

Today we are celebrating ENERGY!

Being under a huge power line, you might think we have electricity on site. But we are still very lo-fi at Loveland. Your support will help us bring power to the field, our first step towards energy resilience.

Having power on site will open up so many opportunities for growth for us. We will be able to power fridges to keep our produce super fresh, have an office for boring but necessary admin tasks, level up our volunteer lunches and host a wider variety of community events (99p Films screenings helloooooo)!

It's such an exciting time of year for local veg at the moment, we are incrdibly lucky to have such amazing growers right on our doorstep over at Loveland. Between those guys, Goonown Growers and Gear farm we have a massive selection up for grabs. From further afield we have an absolutely massive range of organic fruit and veg, sweet seedless grapes, melons, grapefruit, blueberries to name but a few!

And the best bit?! You can buy direct from us every Monday from the Draceana centre annex. Between 4-7 we have a well stocked pop up shop, so if the online ordering isn't for you- pop in and see us. 🛖2 days to go of our Crowdfunder!🛖

Next up on our wishlist, that you are helping make a reality, is... SHELTER!

If you've been to Loveland, you know we have an epic view of Penryn, but that leaves us pretty open to the elements. We love our little cabin and shelter, but when the Cornish wind and sideways rain hits, we don't get much relief! 🌬️🌧️

Your support will help us in the next steps to get a community barn on site, by funding important planning and development costs. Don't worry, we've got better things in store than this post suggests (see last photo for the team arguing about what a roof looks like 🫠), check out the amazing concept drawing by at Social Designs CIC 🌻

A barn will not only provide shelter for our dedicated volunteers, but enable us to hold bigger and better events and workshops, and give us a dedicated veg packing and processing area. Plus, it gives an excuse to have a barn dance 👯‍♀️

💗3 DAYS TO GO OF OUR CROWDFUNDER💗

Today we're celebrating COMMUNITY! 🫂

We're called Loveland Community Field for a reason! We were created by and for the community of Penryn, Falmouth and more.

Every week, twice a week, for nearly the entire year we host community volunteer sessions. Come rain or shine we can always rely on our community to show up and get stuck in! Whether you're coming to get your hands dirty, cook up a storm in the cabin, or just have a cuppa and a natter, EVERYONE is welcome here.

Through your support of this Crowdfunder (another great example of community action!!), we can continue to fund these volunteer sessions, which contribute to the well-being of all involved, and enable shared learning and vital connection to the land and each other.

Loveland would be nothing without its community, and we wouldn't have it any other way. Thank you 💚💚💚

🐝4 DAYS TO GET TO OUR NEW TARGET🐝

As you may have seen, we reached our initial target today, THANK YOU SO MUCH! We've decided to try and get an additional 5k with just 4 days to go. Check out our page to see what this will go towards!

For today, we're continuing to celebrate what your support will contribute to, and next up WILDLIFE! 🦋

Loveland always has, and always will be, about working with nature. You can see how successful this has been so far by this set of photos and videos! The field is teeming with wildlife, and it's such a joy to harvest our produce to the sound of birdsong, the buzz of bees and the occasional rustling from a little vole or slow worm 🐍

BUT we want to do more for all the creatures who call the field home. We've worked with an ecologist to create a five-year conservation plan, and now we have the resource to enact it, all thanks to you! Think more meadows, more ponds, more hedgerows, more LIFE!!

Also, keep your eyes peeled for our next annual Bioblitz, where we can see just how abundant our field is. More info very soon! 💚

WOW! We just hit our Crowdfunder target! 4 days remain!

Thank you all so so much. We are over the moon and beyond grateful for your support and kindness. Over 230 people have donated, an incredible display of the power of community !

With just 4 days remaining , we have set a new stretch target. An additional £5k that will:
Contribute to the costs of a delivery van ! Fund a series of 6 educational workshops for our wider community! Cover some of those administrative costs of running our projects , essential to keeping everyone running smoothly !

We still have matchfunding from Aviva UK so every £1 donated becomes £2, £10 becomes £20 and £50 becomes £100!

We still have lots of rewards to claim too. New FFC bumper stickers, vouchers to our online shop, tickets to 99p Films , tours of the Forest Garden , artwork & more.

Next up of what you are helping to fund is education 📖

We love to welcome families to the field; seeing the magic of children sowing their first seeds, patiently watching them grow, and then reaping the reward with a delicious harvest 🌽

Lots of children already attend our volunteer sessions, but your support for this crowdfunder will enable us to reach more young people in our community. We will be able to build on our relationships with local schools, teach children how to grow produce on their school grounds and connect them with nature in their area through visits to Loveland.

There is so much hope in our future generation, and these partnerships will inspire and empower young people to take action for our planet. So here's to all the future food heroes!! 🌎💚

Next on the list of what your support will fund is WATER 💧

We experienced droughts in May and June, and we haven’t had any rain in July (last night does not count!). These extreme conditions have been accompanied by record-breaking temperatures, and consistent, drying winds.

These are scary times.

Across the UK this extreme weather is causing havoc for many farmers, reducing yields or causing entire crop failures. Terrifying wildfires are ripping across Europe and America. Witnessing the impacts of climate change can feel debilitating, but it is also a clear call to action for building resilience within our communities, and working ever harder in mitigating further damage.

Our Crowdfunder will help fund a significant rainwater harvesting system that will allow us to capture winter rains to use during summer droughts like these. Currently, Loveland is only connected to mains water and doesn’t have the adequate infrastructure to distribute water across the field effectively - costing us lots of money and limiting how much food can be produced and delivered throughout our community.

Resilience is already embedded within Loveland through tree planting, healthy soils, high organic matter, being community-supported, selling locally, growing a diversity of crops and by being organic. A rain-water harvesting system will further support our resilience, minimising our reliance on the mains system, and allowing us to grow more food in droughts like these where water is the limiting factor for growth !
