We are open 7 days a week throughout the year, offering local organic and fresh produce along with a changing takeaway menu of seasonal foods complimented by breads and other baked goods produced by our adjacent organic bakery ( Findhorn Bakery ). Occasionally offering Pizza Nights . ( Please Check Our Website Menu for Details )

The majority of our fresh produce are sourced from the local Moray region and whenever available are grown to organic / Demeter standards. Both the takeaway and bakery prepared food from scratch every day using only natural ingredients. Our wish is to offer food that is healthy and enjoyable to eat, ecologically sustainable and good for the local economy. A bit of a dreich day outside, but summer has arrived at The Bakehouse 🍓

One of the best parts of what we do is watching the seasons change through the food that arrives at our door.

This week it’s local strawberries, sweet, juicy and tasting exactly how strawberries should. Alongside them, some beautiful organically grown greens that have travelled only a handful of miles before landing on our shelves.

The reality is that sourcing this way isn’t always the easiest option. It takes more planning, more conversations and often costs a little more too. But it means fresher produce, support for local growers and food with a real sense of place.

So while the weather might not be playing ball today, summer is definitely making itself known in the shop.

We’ve been a little quieter on here recently. Truthfully, the response to our last post gave us a moment to pause and take it all in.

The amount of kindness, support and love shown towards our staff and our wee business meant more than you probably realise. It reminded us that one difficult moment is only ever a very small drop in a much bigger ocean of community support.

Running a small independent business right now is not without its challenges, and over the coming weeks you may notice some price increases across parts of the shop. Like everyone, we are feeling rising costs across ingredients, packaging, wages and supplies.

What we won’t compromise on is quality. We will continue to use organic milk and coffee beans, proper organic ingredients throughout our bakery and kitchen, locally sourced produce where we can, while continuing to make food by hand with care. That has always mattered to us, and it still does.

We know times are tough for many people right now, and accessibility is important to us too. We are constantly trying to find the balance between keeping things affordable while also keeping the Bakehouse sustainable for the future.

Thank you again for backing us, supporting local, and continuing to walk through our doors every day. We really do appreciate it 💚

A wee note from us at The Bakehouse.

Most days in here are full of lovely interactions, kind folk, good chats, regular faces and plenty of patience on all sides, and we’re genuinely grateful for that.

Today, one of our team members was spoken to aggressively and sworn at by a customer over a situation involving a request we simply couldn’t accommodate in the way expected. It left our staff member upset and, honestly, it’s not something we feel should be quietly brushed past.

For clarity, we’re a shop and takeaway space. We use compostable cups which come at a cost and, if someone would like a cup for a cold drink bought from the shop, this is something we have to charge a small amount for. That’s the system our staff have been asked to follow.

You absolutely do not need to agree with every policy a small business has. But speaking down to staff or trying to make them feel small for doing their job is not on.

Our team work incredibly hard every single day to create a warm, welcoming space for people. Hospitality and retail can be tough enough without staff being made to feel uncomfortable for following the systems we’ve put in place.

Please just be kind to people 🙏🏽 That’s all.

A wee bit fancy for lunch today ✨

Lemon Cured Rock Turbot
served on a rich Italian Caponata
with charred garlic bread 🤌🏽

Bright lemon, silky fish, slow cooked aubergine, tomato, olives, capers and sweet peppers all melting together underneath. Finished with proper garlicky grilled sourdough for scooping up every last bit.

One of those specials that feels a little bit sunny on a day like today ☀️
